There isn't a thing ANYONE HERE can do to derail Roberts' nomination ! It's a fete acomplee.
Many of the people here, who are the MOST strident about this, NEVER were Bush supporters and have complained, often bitterly, about every word, deed, and nonword or nondeed, for the past 5+ years. They say that they'll never vote for him again ( which is patently ridiculous, as he can't run for president again ! ) and/or that they'll never vote GOP again; which is also a stupid thing to say. Many are fringers and idiotically promote voting fringe I( they aren't even third party! )candidates.
Before Roberts got the nod and the hysterics here were throwing themselves on a pyre, screaming that it was going to be Gonzales, I kept telling them that they were damned dead wrong. They were and I was correct. I am also correct about Roberts. :-)

Even Reagan gave us some lousy Justices and G.H.W. Bush gave us Thomas, but many here forget that.

I just hope he's no worse than O'Connor has been. A Rehnquist clone would be great. A Scalia clone even better. A Thomas clone would probably be for the best except that Thomas is perhaps too much a purist given the extent to which the liberal judiciary has twisted the original constitution.
Anyway, we'll see. Don't get yourself too worked up over these arguments. There's nothing to do about it anyway.

Basically, no farm animals or power tools. And no movies like the one Cartman's mom performed in.

Appearing on the cover of "Crack Whore" Magazine is still perfectly acceptable

But is it not within the government's jurisdiction to keep the cable company pushing something into my house that I have asked them to stop doing If the cable company was forcing their services on you, you could go to court.
But they're not. You can discontinue cable at any time, if the service displeases you.

Cable TV is a product marketed and delivered across state lines -- throughout the country. So the feds have commerce clause authority. The government has no Constitutional power to control the content of such transmissions, any more than they have the power to control what I say to you over the phone (except for illegality, of course).

I decided to NOT go to law school because as a lawyer you often end up defending positions that you do not personally believe in! I regret it sometimes! John Roberts is just a man, he represented someone! GET OFF HIS BACK! This is not meant personally to you AliVeritas, just in general to all the pickers of nits!

Roberts is a Rehnquist clone with touches of Scalia, from what I've read of him and YES, unlike Ann and FR's hysterics, I have done the research/reading of his paper and other trails.
I'm as calm as can be, but I don't suffer fools lightly.

Well, I hope so. Maybe everyone will get more comfortable with him as more info comes out. Otherwise, September and October are going to be very long months here at FR.

The hysterics WILL take over. Nothing that comes out about Roberts will matter one whit to the UNAPPESEABLES. And when it's over, they'll find something else to cavil about and just add Roberts to their long list of what's wrong with President Bush; even if Roberts is conformed and turns out to be to the right of Thomas.

Luttig was a judge featured on the 2000 movie Deliberate Intent. The three-judge panel in that film held the book Hit Man liable for three murders committed by a man following the "how-to" techniques in that since withdrawn publication.

I'm not sure what we're supposed to do about it anyway. Have they told you? Are we supposed to FReep his house? Write angry letters? Fume around FR and pick fights with people?
I'm not sure what the action plan is supposed to be. If I'm not careful, I'm going to get kicked out of the Unappeasables Club despite my once unblemished record...
To: Theodore R.
And?
What has that to do with this thread ?
To: George W. Bush
I never got the memo. LOL
Be careful....you aren't posting like an UNAPPEASEABLE at all. :-)
