[history]
From friends at ABC; Peter Jennings is near death. This is unconfirmed, but from usually reliable sources.
The ABC anchor, who was born in Canada but became a US citizen, announced a few months ago that he was suffering from lung cancer. He has not made a televised appearance since.

I will pray for his soul and hope he doesn't indoctrinate a socialist agenda in his next life.

I'm not shedding any tears for the man. In death though, I will pray for that his direction may change, that his soul and family may not suffer. That I disagreed with his politics has nothing to do with with the man's health.
With very few exceptions, I never wish that my political opponents be taken out. Peter Jennings was not a hate America guy (why bother to become a citizen). Politically different from me - sure, but the planet would be a very boring place if we all marched to the same drummer.

Mindbender used to be a network correspondent. He has friends at the network and heard things were not looking good yesterday.
The title was changed today once death was announced.

I will never forgive Jennings for his comments on 9-11 about President Bush when the president was going from spot to spot on Air Force One. His comments were dispicable just like his politics. Anti-American if I ever saw one.
With that being said...may God rest his soul.

Good Luck to your mother! Will pray all goes well for her treatments! My father wasn't so lucky. In April, he was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer of the liver. We tried to fight it till the end, but, we laid him to rest this past Thursday. We will miss him dearly, but we know he has gone on to a better place!

Good news. My mom is starting the same treatment next week. Stay healthy, kiddo!Thank you! You all will be in my prayers. Get her to laugh often. It certainly helps to get through the treatments (which weren't as bad as I expected) and it makes life much more fun too.

My condolences for your loss. The cycle of life is beautiful, inevitable, challenging, and tragic, until God calls us home...

Thanks. Humor has GREAT healing power. Thankfully, my Mom is amply blessed. I'm sure she would agree that, after we left home, we have given her much to smile about!

I'll never forget him. He motivated me to become a FReeper.

Jennings live on-air on 9-11 said as Air Force One was hoping airbase to airbase "some people react well to situations like these, and others psychologically can't handle it and go somewhere to figure them out"

Peter also refused to wear a US flag pin on his lapel when other broadcasters were trying to at least fake support for the US.
And this from a supposed naturalized US Citizen.
I too hope he had a "deathbed" conversion - but I have zero respect for the man's politics and ethics. Sorry - can't feel much sympathy for a self-inflicted disease either.
