I'm considering getting transfered from my job and moving to San Deigo or Los Angeles (where my company has offices.)
Any Freepers want to give a Jersey girl some advice?
I've never been to Ca. but I've had it with Jersey. I know there are at least five Conservatives in Califorina (thats three more than NJ)- help me out people!
You are right. :o)
HA HA!! I'm NOT bitter.
..........(b@st@rd)
Do what he say! Do what he say!
Curiously, I'm not much of a breast man.
I like a pair of hot-lookin' legs though. :o)
In AutoCad, I hope...
Either / or - modesty does not appear to be a prevailing virtue of our times.

"Let me say I also spent several days at Pismo Beach, and I enjoyed every single one of them. I still wouldn't want to live there."
I live here, and I don't like it either. Too many people escaping LA and Frisco, and they brought their rat race attitudes with them.
Machine guns AND cattle prods?!
GA sounds very enticing....
There will be no gawking at excess clevage in my presence!
I'm moving to California for Grad school in less then 2 weeks.
I'm going to be living in Malibu (going to Pepperdine University) but from my experience, San Diego IS a much nicer place then LA. If I actually ever make California my permenant home, I think I'd move there.
We've graduate to another program but I do know AutoCAD.
NOT nice!!! Shame on you! ;)
Little Persia, Little Armenia (Glendale), several Chinatowns, Mexicans all over the place. It should be mentioned that even in New York these days, "ethnic neighborhoods" are largely Chinese, Russian, Dominican, Arab, and Mexican as well.
I generally mind my own business, but.
Let me put it this way: This forum has a search function. About 4 years ago it was most educational.
Good luck to you.
DONT DO IT! I just left, that place having gotten on my last nerve. The illegal immigration problem you "hear" about will be in your face in Cali. EVERYTHING is expensive in california too. My last utility bill from DWP (Dept Water and Power), which I just got, was $400.
You'll hit rush hour traffic on weekend evenings on alot of the freeways. If you are sane, I guarantee you will not like it.
West Texas has the best housing on the market. You can easily get a 3400 sq ft house for under 200,000, we have sports, nice summers and cool evenings and the BEST sunset in the world. Beside we are very conservative.

Um, you don't really mean that the way it sounds do you? ;-)
I liked San Diego when I went to visit. I'd say come up to the Bay Area, but it really is crazy expensive and I'm not sure there is much work for architects here.
here are some conversational tidbits for you, when you move to California:
1. I don't care a hoot about the Oscars. Sure I'll be happy if I win one, but it's the work I love.
2. It's not that I don't believe in marriage, it's that I don't believe in marriage as an institution.
3.I just came back from China. China is fantastic. You've been , haven't you?
You will also need to keep the following information handy, at all times, when attending parties or meeting new people:
1. what is your sign?
2. Who is your guru?
3. How much do you make?
4. How many miles do you run?
5. Who does your hair?
6. Who does your house?
7. Who does your dog?
8. Do you know of a good housekeeper?
9. Where did you get those vitamins?
You will need to come up with quick answers to these common questions, otherwise the locals will consider you un-hip.
all the above from the book "How to California" by Jonathan Roberts.
