Schmidt Wins 08/02 11:05 PM

The local affiliate Fox 19 has just called the race for Jean Schmidt over Paul Hackett 52 to 48 percent.

Many thanks to all The Buzz readers who helped keep all of us on breaking news side of this.

And thanks to everyone who kept reading late tonight as well.

The Channel 9 affiliate has called the race as well.

i don't think he saw armed duty but was in a noncombatant role,

He was a Civil Affairs officer, a not unimportant role in an occupation situation. Nevertheless, a Marine is still a Marine.

Democrats had viewed the race as a bellwether for 2006, saying even a strong showing by Hackett in such a heavily GOP district would be a good sign for them in the midterm elections.

I'm pretty sure that will be the A.M. SPIN.

If they're content with "almost" wins then I think we can all get along afterall, ROTFL.

It's like the Barak Obama thing. He's telegenic and black, so of course the MSM fall all over him, even though every damned thing he's said since he got into office has been a DNC talking point.

On the other hand, when Norm Coleman got in all I thought was 'Another Republican, that's all I care about," but every time I've seen him on TV talking I've thought "Hey, I LIKE this guy." Last night on Chris Matthews he was so refreshingly straightforward. Without being rude or reading from RNC talking points he put Matthews in his place and didn't run from straight answers.

The MSM try to create stars according to their arcane demographic codes, but the real stars are the ones people simply respond to; Coleman is "just" another white dude, but he's earned points with me for his INDIVIDUALITY--something "superstar" Obama has yet to do.

Of course. They don't want to read philosophy, they don't want to think about thinking--they want to feel about feeling.

Yes--just another night at DU, in other words.

If their guy had won, though, it'd be the start of a REVOLUTION! With many more CHE! images than usual on the site.

Dean's first big victory as chair of the DNC? He should at least get some credit.

Let a terrorist blow up their houses and family, and they will have a rude awakening to reality, one their feelings and postmodernism cannot reconcile without crumbling apart.

You mean the dead voters they were counting on as a swing vote?

It shouldn't have been nearly this close. This may not be a loss, but it's not a victory either.

Rush talked about it today. This guy didn't mention he was a rat in his ads and came out strong pro-Bush, pro-Iraqi freedom, but Rush ran his quotes today slamming Bush, slamming the war and wanting to raise taxes.

The only thing that bums me out is that so many people in America are getting a clue but my neighbors in Montgomery County, MD still are able to drive to work everyday with their head in the sand.

Anyway, Ohio did us proud. Thanks.

I don't know. People who think with their hearts instead of their brains don't seem equipped to deal when they most need it.

I still think most Demonuts think that if we could just TALK to the terrorists they would understand us, and we'd get along. Just today I ran across a writer's website--can't recall who it was--and he made a few comments about how he "knew" what America had done to make the terrorists think the way they did.

This man, an intelligent person, supposedly, had no clue. He obviously has not read a word coming from the terrorists, who use these imagined sins as feeble excuses, when what they really want is to die in the "cause" and in the process go off to their 71 virgins and the one girl who really knows what she's doing, or whatever.

People who feel instead of think will never figure out how to deal with other people who feel instead of think.

No, I mean the ones they have to count after precincts validate them after the election. Does anyone have a count on the number of provisionals and uncounted absentees?

I hope the Democrats do the Helen Thomas dance tonight......

That ends with crawling into a coffin, doesn't it?

All their rhetoric falls apart when it's brought to a personal level.

In my experience as a Christian apologist dealing with postmodernists through the years, I have found that when reality becomes personal, as in their personal property and family are in peril, that their dialectic fails them, and they have to come to grips with the fact of absolute truth.
