Refusing to relinquish her extended fifteen minutes of fame, Anita Hill is back in the news. After doing all she could to prevent a black man, Clarence Thomas, from becoming a Supreme Court Justice, Hill is now attacking President Bush's nomination of John Roberts, saying she fears his selection could lead to "an all-white-male Supreme Court." God forbid. Sadly, hardly anyone noticed her racist and sexist comments. The liberal press simply yawned, since white males remain the primary targets of abuse by journalists, academics and feminists. They have been victims of affirmative action, quotas and reverse discrimination. Hill knows this, and she knew she could get a free pass to interject race (and gender) into the debate surrounding Roberts.
Not being content with the fact that Supreme judicial activist Earl Warren was evidently a white male (incidentally, so was Stalin), Anita Hill seems to believe that white males need not apply. Although Hill admitted that she did not know much about Roberts' political ideology, she noted "his career has been built on membership in increasingly elitist institutions that include few women and Latinos or other ethnic minorities." In other words, being Harvard educated (summa cum laude), a member of the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, and a member of the Reagan White House Staff does not qualify Roberts to be on the nation's highest court. Why? Based on the narrow-minded opinion of Hill, the answer is simple. His skin is white, and even worse, his anatomy is male. According to her, there is real danger in his selection, since all white males think, look and dance exactly the same.
In 1991, Anita Hill did everything humanly possible to defeat the confirmation of Justice Clarence Thomas by claiming she had been sexually harassed by Thomas when she worked for him years earlier at the Equal Employment Opportunities Commission. It seemed at the time, as Thomas noted, to be "a high-tech lynching for uppity blacks." With all due respect to Clarence Thomas, he was mistaken. Hill's noose was not designed to fit onto the head of an uppity black; it was, instead, designed for the high tech lynching of conservative ideology. Why else would a seemingly intelligent woman like Anita Hill attempt to destroy the nomination of Thomas, who is black, and then, a few years later, criticize President Bush for not appointing an ethnic minority? As a 1990s songbird once asked, "And isn't it ironic, dontcha think?"
Some sources define irony as incongruity between the actual result of a sequence of events and the normal or expected result. Such is the inconsistent and illogical nature of liberals who love affirmative action as long as the person being advanced is not a conservative. With the left, merit does not matter. It's all about liberalism, not necessarily diversity and certainly not merit or fairness. Simply put, she was a liberal and a proponent of the living Constitution; he wasn't. She sought to advance liberalism by using the judiciary to to circumvent the will of the people; he didn't. To Hill, their common race did not matter. Ethnic diversity be damned. Despite being a member of the most powerful Court in the world for over a decade, Clarence Thomas is still waiting for his NAACP membership invitation. And he is still attempting to comprehend how a poor black guy from the State of Georgia, born in an economically depressed community built on the grounds of a former slave plantation south of Savannah, is not not considered to be "diverse enough."
In the end, the only thing that matters to the left is the perpetuation of their liberal power structure and its magic wand -- the federal judiciary.
Individualism? Fairness? Merit? Much like the white male, it is left's position that those words need not apply. In a nation where the content of a man's character should prevail over the content of his skin's melanin or the content of estrogen in his body, isn't it ironic?
Dontcha think?
Think about this: If Hillary becomes president, she is likely to nominate Bill and Anita to the Supreme Court!
Most democrats don't even believe her anymore.
Bill Clinton (on MTV when asked who he believed), paused for a few ackward moments, bit his lip, then said Anita Hill.
No one, and no one honestly believes her.
She fit the protype of a stalker (calling him after he was gone, following him to another job, etc).
She wasn't pushing a ideology (though she is a leftist), she was pushing revenge for having been spurrned.
She could only find one person to back her up, and that woman was fired by Thomas for harassing gay employees and threatening them (unlike Hill, this one had loads of witnesses).
Sorry Anita... your 15 minutes is up.... please step to the rear of the line...
DEAR ANITA,
PLEASE JUST GO AWAY AND DON'T COME BACK EVER AGAIN.
JM
One reason that Anita Hill faded away and failed to get back in the limelight is that her charges were lacking in credibility. Even some liberals privately admit that she probably accused Thomas falsely.
I know that conservatives don't like David Brock (with good reason), but his book "The Real Anita Hill" was a good read.
I heard her a clip from her on a radio talk show. She referred to John Roberts as "John Rogers". That's how much she knows about the man. She's got the first name right.
let's just hope heil howard dean and the Moveon ilk pick her up as a poster-child and trot her around so she can spout this BS.....
There is just so MUCH to fear from the mere possibility that this viper could ever get into the White House again, bringing Herr Arkancide along with her. It is terrifying! But it is also a great motivator for us conservatives!
I wish that we had a very clear-cut front runner, but I don't see him or her right now.....not even Condi, because she has never run for office, and so she's an unknown quantity on the campaign trail. According to Dick Morris, she would be the only PERSON (male or female) who could definitely beat Killery! That's a scary thought.
Thanks for your comments!
Char (:
As I said before, go have a diet coke and shut up Anita.
Here comes the BIMBOS.
as john belushi said: "no coke, pepsi."
Maybe Anita needs a Coke to take the edge off.
Char,
While never having run for office before places Condi Rice at a tactical disadvantage, not being a professional politician could be a strategic advantage.
