On Hannity and Colmes, While discussing the requirements of a Supreme Court nominee, Ann just sarcastically noted that it was ok to kill a girl at Chappiquiddic. Colmes said that was a low blow and that comment was below her.
WHY??? WHAT is so darned SACRED about mentioning the truth???
Ann said, "Why..."
Colmes didn't answer, and the set was quiet.
Hannity and Reagan (another guest) should have spoken up.
This is another example of "The Emperor is NAKED!"
The absurd changes in his story reflect his reluctance to admit he was half naked at the time of the accident which ocurred after they interrupted engaged in hanky panky.

He's never really owned up to his culpability nor paid any real legal consequences. Is it too late to open a Federal Civil Rights investigation? Is a woman's access to oxygen a civil right?
I work in Greenwich Village (ick! got a HandiWipe?) and often bump into Alan Colmes on the street.
The camera isn't kind to him. In real life, he's actually not the freaky-looking hand puppet that he appears to be on TV. I've been on TV and can attest to the fact that, whatever is in your heart and however you look (you hope), TV can turn you into a grinning freakazoid.
Regarding your earlier post about NY state, yes, there are those of us even in Westchester County who vote red. People have to stop looking at state colors as though they are permanent colors. Hillary could have been beaten by someone less inept than Lazio. Our problem, as a state, is that Republican voters in New York do not have the party they deserve.
When Pataki was at his peak he should have made the taking down of Sheldon Silver and his ilk priority one.

I was in Greenwich Village only once, back in 1958 when I got married for the first time. My brother in law took us down there. Said not to wear plaid shirts because they'd know you were a tourist! I don't think it was as bad as it is now. It was rather interesting. A new comedian, Phyllis Diller, was featured in a basement club of some kind. You could hear her for $5.00!
I like Alan better than most liberals on TV. He seems kinder than most but he sure can be maddening at times. I suppose he gets paid to do that.
I'm disappointed in our state congresscritters, governor, and all. I hope this changes after Pataki leaves. I was never overly impressed with him.

Hard to tell what's post-Pataki. Is there a Republican legacy to run on? Will Jeanne Pirro's mobbed-up husband be an albatross to her candidacy? On the other side, can Carl McCall energize the Dem base? Much remains to be seen though I think the governorship could swing blue again.
Nothing, of course, would surprise me with the Kennedy Klan. They all seemed to have liked keeping their britches down around their knees. Your speculation might not be so far off (at least not as far off as Teddie's britches!).

Do you think it'd be old news if he was a republican? He can't say it was a youthful indiscretion. If he had any shame he would've at least went back home to Massachusetts & hope everyone would forget who he was.

Once again you conjecture as to what he may have been thinking. Judging from his own statements, he did not appear to be thinking about her at all, only his own future political life.

NY was democrat most of my life here so I'm not sure if there ARE any republicans who could run and win.
Sufficient information has been proferred in the attempt to convince you of the merit present in the oral prosecution of the Chappaquiddick event.
I would suggest that you examine the difference between precept and principle, as that appears to be the area of reconciliation.
Socratic dialogue, if you are familiar with it, would afford you the opportunity to experience the difference. It does require an authentic intellectual integrity and familiarization with the concept of actuality (vis a vis reality).
Unfortunately, this - the forum - is not a particularly suitable venue for such a pursuit.

It's probably a combination of factors. Neither of us will ever know for sure.

I find Kennedy's attacks on Bush and the Iraq war to be almost treasonous in nature.
He infuriates me to the point I catch myself shouting at the TV when he is being interviewed by the MSM.
I simply don't NEED Chappaquiddic to oppose this man.
It isn't Chappaquiddic but his diseased ideology that poisons the political landscape.
And I think it is a mistake by many on the right to keep ranting about it. It's a distraction from the real issues.
And this has to be one of the most hysterical drama queen exagerations I've ever read on FR.
I challenge you to cite a statement from me that EVEN comes close to fitting your description above.
