"Did he or did he not kill a woman at Chappaquiddic" Ann Coulter
Fox News ^ | 27 JUL 05 | Self

On Hannity and Colmes, While discussing the requirements of a Supreme Court nominee, Ann just sarcastically noted that it was ok to kill a girl at Chappiquiddic. Colmes said that was a low blow and that comment was below her.

WHY??? WHAT is so darned SACRED about mentioning the truth???

Ann said, "Why..."

Colmes didn't answer, and the set was quiet.

Hannity and Reagan (another guest) should have spoken up.

This is another example of "The Emperor is NAKED!"

Yeah but if he had really tried to save her, she might well have lived. His failure to do so compounds his crime and murder is not a crime with a statute of limitation.

This is true. And I bet there isn't a day when the thought of the possibilty he could have saved her, or that she could have lived for a while in an air pocket while he ran and hid...must torment him.
What an awful thing to live with.

But NOBODY has suggested he purposely drove that car into a canal with the intention of killing her, NOR did he KNOW that she could be saved and simply did whatever he had to, in order to make sure she died.

And he might have been totally smashed and unable to make sound decisions for all we know.

In any case I find people throwing this in his face repeatedly to be very meanspirited.

Why not continue to hammer him? He hammers President Bush with gross personal attacks all the time.

Kennedy is a loser. You don't have hammer him with Chappaquiddic. People know what he is about.

If people even believed HALF of his mindless attacks on President Bush, then Bush would have NEVER been re-elected.

I think Lori's mind has been made up, and she's not going to allow any facts in her way.

What right do any of us have to forgive the death of another person? I can forgive injustices done to myself. But an innocent woman died because of his inexcusable actions and inactions. It would be a crime to forgive that, at least until he himself makes full amends for it.

No...... You are completely missing my points and the MAIN points about Kennedy!

1) She didn't hit and run

2) She didn't leave a living person that later died

3) The false story of Laura leaving the scene was spun to help Kerry beat Bush, I remember it being rehashed before the election and reading the facts that debunked it

4) Kennedy committed a hit and run type offense

5) Kennedy left a living person that later died

I don't think I can express these major differences any clearer and if you don't get it, I give up!

Correct! Laura was the driver responsible for an accident, that killed her boyfriend. End of that story. I read about this before the 2000 election. Got anything new?

Jorge, Your bruising may heal from the few hundred posts I have read addressed to your defense of Kennedy but I doubt you understand how people like myself feel.

What "bruising" are you talking about?
A few hundred posts?

Are you trying to make me laugh on purpose or what?

Do you actually think those who's debate skills amount to parroting "Chappaquiddic!Chappaquiddic!" at Ted Kennedy without actually addressing REAL political issues are brilliant posters who could "bruise" me? I find their attacks entertaining.

You are WAY too easily impressed.

Not only is Kennedy a coward and never legally held responsible for a young woman's death, he is one of the worst enemies that America has. When he trashes our President and us with lies and throws the term "moral authority" around - it really grates on me. He got a legal pass on the death of Mary Jo and he's evidently getting another pass on his treasonous (imo) remarks.

I agree with what you say about his "treasonous (imo) remarks" and that he could be one of the "worst enemies that America has". If he wasn't so weak politically.

Kennedy is a drunken idiot.

Think about it. If Americans even believed HALF of the insane accusations he's made against Bush, do you think Bush could have been re-elected?

We've had our vengence on Kennedy ten-fold.
And he will answer to God for Chappaquiddic.

Jorge, I disagree with you completely. That being said (for about the 700th time) I also disagree with those who would call you names here. One can debate with a little class, if one is truly intelligent.

What do you expect from people who's political opposition to Ted Kennedy has never evolved beyond chants of "Chappaquiddic!Chappaquiddic!!"? A "little class"? LOL

I'm sick to death of hearing about Chappaquiddic.

Who other than FreeRepublic will even mention this subject? Frankly, this is the first time I can ever recall this woman's murder being MENTIONED on T.V. I suppose a crime drama, a bio of Ted Kennedy or a show with the O.J. book writing detective on it probably has disccussed this. But this topic is essentially blacked-out by all MSM sources. Thus, the speculation that Ann will not be invited back on.

Okay young man. Spit it out. Who did you kill? We're all here to listen and not judge...

I agree with them that we should beat him over the head with it every single chance we get. I've been waiting all my adult life to see someone do on national TV what Ann Coulter did. Now to keep beating the drums! This thread is helping the cause, getting the base fired up.

What right do any of us have to forgive the death of another person?

Who ever said we did?

My comments were addressed to those who think they have the right to condemn and claim that others CANNOT be forgiven EVER.
Perhaps you missed the comment I was responding to in my post. Even though I pasted it in my post?

No, your comments on this thread have been directed at those who very appropriately bring up this issue at all. Contrary to what your nervous jitters tell you, bringing this issue up does not in any way dilute the force of our other condemnations of Kennedy.

"I also think all it creates is a distraction from the real issues at hand and has little real political benefit."

I guess character really doesn't matter. Lanny Davis, Carville and Begala won that war huh?

Look, no one disputes that accidents happen, but Laura was 17 and sober at the time while Teddy was 37 and criminally drunk.

But the real issue is not so much that Ted had an accident in his car while being sh*t-faced, it's what Ted did after. While Mary Jo asphixiated in the back seat of Ted's car, Ted abandoned her for the first lawyer he could find, disappeared from sight for 8 hours ....

Had Ted the slightst trace of human decency, he might have taken the time to rescue Mary Jo, or at least knock on one of the doors of one of the many houses a 100 yards or so away to find someone who might be a decent human being. HECK, he might even have thought to call the police.

Naaaaaw! Who's to argue with Ted's first and only instinct?

Do you see the differnce, or are you intent on equating the two situations?

Simply my observation. I've been called "stupid" on this forum myself, and I'll stack my IQ up against any such accuser without hesitation.

Well, let's not be stupid here...

..do you remember the case a couple of years ago when a woman struck a man and his head was stuck in her windshield and she drove home and let him die? Well, I would put this in the same category.

Are you serious? With all due respect this an extremely distorted and unbalanced comparison.

That woman hit this man, and went out to talk to him while he was dying in her windsheild in her garage. And she PURPOSELY let him die.

This is NOWHERE near the equivalent of driving into a canal, barely escaping with your own life, probably thinking the other person died in the accident and freaking out and running.

There is plenty of insane political rhetoric to attack Ted Kennedy over. Resorting to these kinds of mindless accusations over Chappaquiddic only detract from the real issues.
