On Hannity and Colmes, While discussing the requirements of a Supreme Court nominee, Ann just sarcastically noted that it was ok to kill a girl at Chappiquiddic. Colmes said that was a low blow and that comment was below her.
WHY??? WHAT is so darned SACRED about mentioning the truth???
Ann said, "Why..."
Colmes didn't answer, and the set was quiet.
Hannity and Reagan (another guest) should have spoken up.
This is another example of "The Emperor is NAKED!"
Jorge: Regarding your comment...
"Spare me the phony personal convictions. Ted Kennedy cared more for this woman than you EVER could and feels 100 times as bad about her death than you EVER could. This tormenting him over her memory is nothing but a meanspirited nasty attack."
With all due respect: first, what phony personal convictions? The people on this thread who are disgusted with Ted Kennedy's callous, selfish actions on that day would NOT have left a woman to drown for their personal convenience.
Second, I offer that there is no basis whatever to conclude Teddy cared at all for this woman, much less deeply. Quite the opposite. The DUI Teddy drove the car off the bridge, saved his skin and left her in the water while she was still alive, took many hours to sober himself up and think up a combination excuse and plan, called a friend first, before calling police, and, all in all, appears to have felt about 100 times worse about his personal position than Mary Jo's life. Additionally, Ms. Kopechne was about 2 months pregnant at the time of her death. DNA tests did not exist then, and no paternity tests of the era were done, but it wasn't too hard to determine who the apparent father was. Therefore, in tbhis pre-Roe vs. Wade era of legalized abortion that Teddy is so in favor of, it seems a dead Mary Jo solved other difficulties for the married Mr. K.
Third, on the basis of the facts of the incident, and of Ted's actions, I assert that the only thing tormenting him about this "memory" is the fact that so many people rightfully refuse to give him a free pass on the crime he committed.
Last, true meanspirited, nasty attacks - that is, the vicious, sarcastic, lurid, heinous, hysterical and almost invariably untrue verbal assaults leveled against Republicans in general, and people like the Bushes, Reagan, Clarence Thomas, Robert Bork, U.S. soldiers at war, and a whole host of very decent people - are almost entirely emanating from the province of the very "tolerant" liberal left - of which Teddy the coward is a charter member.

He is untouchable while he is under the protection of Greenpeace..
Sorry dude, the only kook I see around here is...well.... You claim to know for a fact that he has suffered tremendously and feels great remorse over what happened. I wonder how you know what he feels? Are you God? My feelings over it is that the only remorse he felt was that he might potentially get in trouble and did all he could to avoid it, the sorry for getting caught liberal syndrome if you will. And your refusal to acknowledge/admit that he left her to suffocate and didn't seek help while he sobbered up tells me all I need to know about you. You sir have no right to call others meanspirited for simply stating the truth. Is saying someone did something while not being convicted of it now meanspirited? Saying OJ killed a couple of people is being full of hate and demonic too, no?
That HAS to be a bannable offense.
MY EYES!!!!!
I'd settle for ripping his tongue out. : )
Right on, Sir Allen.

And there you have it.
>>
Well Senator Kennedy is probably "one of his good friends". Just like Al Sharpton, Robert Kennedy Jr. and Charlie Rangle.
Hannity may have been shocked, but his list of "good friends" is pretty shocking to me.
<<
Don't forget his "good friend" Lanny Davis. And the fact that he said he would endorse Joe Lieberman. And the avowed communist woman that he was all chummy-chum-chum at the Demonrat Convention, I forget her name...(shucking and jiving and calling her "darlin'" and generally having a good ole palsy-walsy time).
This truly evil human being equates American soldiers with Saddam's torturers, flaps his filthy lying mouth day after day about my country, is the enemy of all that is good, and I'm supposed to feel sorry for him?
I think I'll save my crocodile tears, thanks.
>>No offense, but yours has to be the dumbest opinion I've ever seen expressed on this forum. Are you related to a certain fat, drunken senior US Senator?
<<
I have to agree, Jorge. You're a great FReeper, but your position is indefensible on this one IMHO.
He did not "accidentally" leave her to die and not report it for hours and hours.
Just remember that the one savin grace to all that happened is 'it kept him from ever being able to run for President'----the way the country loved or felt sorry for the Kennedy clan in those days would have made him a 'shoein'----look at what we all were saved from since he, being the hero he was when the chips were down, would have taken the nation to who knows where?
I cringe every time I hear that puffed-up blowhard say that. How dare he think he speaks for the American people. Maybe he speaks for all liberals who are drunks or all liberals who kill innocent women because they're hunger for power is greater than their decency... BUT HE NEVER SPEAKS FOR THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

President Bush speaks for the American people. He was elected to speak for the American people. Teddy was elected to speak for the liberals of Massachusetts.
Watched the last half-hour. Didn't see it. And except for the blonde hottie hawking some kind of video, it was a useless, boring half-hour that reminded me why I bailed on that silly show over a year ago.
If Ann would eat something now and then, she might be as cute as the video hottie.
So anyway . . . it wasn't near the end.
I haven't read all the posts - over 500 now - but the account I heard that makes the most sense is:
He got out of the car after a cop passed them and swam back to his hotel - about a mile across an inlet as he didn't want to be seen with her.
Mary Jo kept on driving in the fog and went off the 13' wide bridge.
Teddy got in to the hotel after 1am and went to bed, not knowing of the accident.
The next morning he was having breakfast, according to witnesses. and 2 people from his campaign came to the table, spoke to him and they all left quickly.
I believe this scenario because it would be about impossible to open a door of an Olds in the water, in the dark and the car almost upside down. And you certainly couldn't slam the door closed after you got out. The doors were closed and the windows rolled up. Kennedy says he can't remember how he got out. That's kind of funny as he wasn't in the car in the first place.
Why wouldn't he have said, hey, I wasn't in the car to begin with......
She did not drown...... she suffocated, which is even worse.
The diver who retrieved her body and another person up there that weekend said her body was too buoyant to have been the body of a drowned victim. She was in that car for a long time and suffocated.
There it is, in a nutshell. If any of us got drunk, drove off a bridge, with the passenger trapped in the vehicle (to later drown), and left the scene of the accident and did not report it for hours, we'd still be looking out of the bars, and not the ones that serve single malt scotch.
