Infant Girl Left In Hot Car Dies
A baby was found dead inside a car Thursday after her father went to pick her up at her daycare and workers there told him she had never arrived, authorities said.
Gabriel Saavedra rushed out to his car at Storybook Nursery School and found his tiny daughter, Kayli, still strapped in her infant seat from that morning, police said.
Emergency workers said the girl, who would have been 5 months old on Saturday, was declared dead on the scene.
He must be castrated.
He must never again have a child.
So,the people you know wouldn't even call once a day to check up on a 5 month old baby?????
No, it would have been irresponsible to not check if they are there or not. You double checked and that is responsible. This man drove straight to work, forgot to drop the child off at the day care, didn't double check to see if the baby was behind him or not, and spent the entire day forgetting about his dang child like it was no big deal. Sorry, but this is irresponsible.
whats really bizarre is he was driving from work with her in the back seat,dead and he still didn't notice anything in the back seat...If it was hot enough,wouldn't there have been some kind of smell ......
when my son was in day care I called once a day to check on him.
thats my point exactly....who would leave a 5 month old in day care all day and never check on her even at lunch or break....something smells fishy about this story.[sorry,no pun intended...]

He should be sterilized immediately. Anyone that did that shouldn't be allowed to breed anymoer. Neglectful or stupid-we don't need more 'parents' who are either.
My friends daughter has her two in a day care that has a computer link up. She can bring the daycare up on her computer at work anytime she feels the need to check and she sees her kids.
If I had to leave a child in day care I would look for one with that feature.
Heavens, even Kroger has screens so parents can watch their children in the play room while they shop/
That's a really interesting question. I don't recall any stories of children freezing to death in a car......I wonder why?
My daughter was in the front seat--airbag turned off. She was in the back seat for about 5 days. It's recommended that they be in the back and I'm sure some states require it, but it's legal here. I felt like I was a safer driver being able to coo or pass a bottle, or adjust a visor, then trying to figure out what was going on in the back seat with a rear facing car seat.
Living in Phenux,we see this happen pretty frequently. I think that I have heard of at least 20 cases over the past five years. Never before has it been the father,it's usually the mom, after mom it has been an aunt or a female babysitter.
Some would on some days. Some would everyday.Some wouldn't on some days. Some wouldn't on every day.
I think it depends on alot of things and never once thought that not calling everyday or even mosts days meant a parent was not a good one. Surely not associated with murder. And calling every day was the same.
I don't think you can make blanket judgements about people based on one behavior. And I think accidents, mistakes, some egregious occur in both decent and hideous people.
What were you calling once a day to check on?
Good for you! Thank you for all you do as a member of the military. How many of us realize that day care for children is another of the sacrifices you all make for us.
I suppose those who are so dead set against day care would prefer all moms stay home on welfare and socialized health care.
(And for all of you that wonder, I have been fortunate enough to be home full time with my kids since before day one. And yes, at one time I was self-rightous enough to judge every mom that hired a babysitter or day care. I realized there are lots of circumstances in this world, and thank God that I have been so blessed.)
Also, excellent reasons to have the child in the front seat. Rear facing is as safe as it can get, imo.

I thought this particular case simple and obvious in terms of responsibility.
You forget your 5 month old when A)you have a heart attack or stroke B) someone shoots you C) you lose consciousness due to something out of your control
My son, always woke up and started crying the minute the car stopped. Built in alarm I guess. I just can't see forgetting the little ones in the car.
Now that was a sad story. I hope these parents were able to regroup and forgive. This could happen to many people, but especially dads or moms with many kids.
