Let this be the beginning of a trend to re-arming England.

Most aren't - a few do.

A fox reporter stated that most do not carry weapons and this is unusual. However, MI5 has been deployed with weapons and suspected terrorists are getting extra watching. So maybe they were watching this guy and shot him as he made his move.

That was before they banned the private ownership of firearms. Now many have to carry.

There is a group of them that do carry weapons and also have them in their vehicle's for easy distribution to other officers. They are also reporting that someone has set the house on fire where the family of one of the bombers lived from July .

Simon (Fox) just said they are not armed. These appear to be undercover. The suspect is Asian - could include someone from India or Pakistan.

More and more British police need to be armed, ironically, because of their ban on guns. Naturally, the criminal element in Britain want guns more than ever-- especially the fully automatic kind.

I thought the cops in England weren't allowed to carry guns?

That's the first thing I said to my husband when I heard it on the radio this morning.

His reply, "Well I guess they changed that rule."

Later I read they were plainclothes policemen.

Unlike us the Brits do not arm every would-be Rambo flatfoot with enough kit to take down the Pentagon. The reserve that for trained and qualified personnel who have a real target. Don't knock it. It actually works and they save themselves billions a year in liability costs for shooting eight-year olds who eat French fries on the metro.

What really ought to amaze you is the speed with which the Brits figured out who perteptrated the last bombing. Our side would still be arguing about whether they want filled or sugarless.

Terrorism on the home turf has a way of changing the rules, I guess.

I'm now waiting for Michael Moore to do a new documentary focusing on the "gun nuts" of the London Police Department. :-|
