Yes, we're finally in the process of getting rid of some of them right now. One way tickets to Jordan and the like.

Previously I think there was an argument for letting them stay, in order to make it easier to watch them and penetrate their organisations. Now it looks like there is a strong public mandate for getting rid of them. It probably won't make much difference one way or the other in terms of the likelyhood of further attacks, but it's the will of the people and I think that should be good enough on any issue.

Yes, that last bit was unfounded but not the part about the founders and their writings on the importance of Christianity to our founding and our future freedoms.

I read an interesting book about 18/19 century public schools awhile back. There is no question that there was probably still is a darker side to public schools.

Fair enough...if it's inaccurate it should be corrected. Thanks for accepting my comment in the spirit that it was sent. BTW, thanks for pointing that out about Jefferson. I didn't know that...take care

It's tricky. Tony Blair is hyper-sensitive to being blamed for this. According to another question on that poll, a real Guardian liberal question, approximately 2/3 of the UK public think Tony Blair's decision to join the invasion of Iraq was largely or partly responsible for causing the bombings. So he has good reasons to be very sensitive on this issue even though this is the same sample of whom 75% thought that it was time to sling out the preachers of hate.

Two weeks ago, as Islamic web gleefully took responsibility for the bombings in Britain. Will be interesting to hear the words this time. Will they say "Just Damn", Twits...told them the stuff might be no good" or......

We're all sensitive but we're also allies. Russia had a couple of hits and they're not allies in Iraq.

Tony has it right: The terrorists are responsible.....not Afghanistan, Iraq, or whatever. It's what terrorists do.

We are talking costs far beyond price to pump the oil.

The costs per barrel would sky rocket; paying $10 per gallon given the scenario (nuked Saudi Arabia and/or Iran, 1000's dead, ten of thousands injured, uprising throughout the country, and the world, possible nukes being launched by NK. How would that impact the US and the West?

Throughout the world you will see massive unemployment as energy costs go through the roof, markets crashing throughout the world, peoples life savings wiped out overnight. Imagine the costs in lives of our military as they attempt to secure the oil fields of the country they just nuked, as well as, the oil fields of Iraq (do you think the Iraqi's would stick by us after this?).

Now contemplate a nuclear strike by NK fearing they are next (Consider Iran if they have the bomb when this occurs). Will SK and/or Japan, possibly America be hit? Imagine the cost in people than. In total the costs of dropping that nuke will make today's costs look trivial in comparison.

If that is where this leads us, the nuking of an oil rich country, we best be prepared for the affect of such an act.

I pray we exhaust all other options before we take such an action.

IMHO

If those imams are preaching "death to the West", then I'm not sure that Britain's support of the war in Iraq would have made that much difference. I suspect that regardless of whether or not Britain supported the war in Iraq, that this type of attack would have occurred sooner or later. Maybe I'm way off here, but the isalmocrazies hate the West just because. I think Britain was in for it eventually no matter what.

My first suggestion is that they do not allow the Imams to go to Trafalgar Sq and celebrate on 911 like they did on the one year anniversary.

One of the unfortunate downside to a free and open place of exchange like Free Republic(especially where one can post anonymously) is that some of the nuttier, rabid, fringe, and knee-jerk posters can spam lots of irrational thought. The most vocal often are the least representative

You remind me of the poster John HK, who refused to believe that Islam was behind 3-11. He chided us on that day for our "knee jerk reaction" because we were jumping up and down saying Al Qaeda! Al Qaeda! and he kept insisting it was ETA. His chiding bordered on appeasement, I thought. Of course it wasnt ETA, and I havent seen him here since. Or at least I havent seen him. Ill bet that the next bomb that goes off in America will have you putting Islam at the top of the list of suspects. because if you dont do it automatically, you are a living casualty of PC. This not a flame post, nor am I looking for trouble. I just didnt have time yesterday to respond to your smart aleck post. A post I will give you, because for the first time since 9-11, I was wrong in assesing blame.

London-Islamic terror

Bali-Islamic terror

NYC-Islamic terror

Madrid-Islamic terror

French Oil Tanker-Islamic terror

Istanbul-Islamic terror

Casablanca-Islamic terror

Thwarted Ricin Water attack, England-Islamic terror.

Beslan(One of the most abominable-children were specifically targeted)-Islamic terror

Moscow Theatre-Islamic terror

Iraq(they are killing their own daily in the name of Allah)-Islamic terror

Any number of cities and towns in Israel-Islamic terror

Im convinced Egyptair 990 was -Islamic terror

Jose Padilla didnt come here at the behest of the IRA, ETA, Action Direct, or AIM-Islamic terror.

If it walks like a duck, Im calling it. Again, Im not flaming, but PC kills and Im sorry to see it here on FR. We are at war, and the PC crap that goes on threatens our country.

Sure, you're very likely right. I think Iraq might have been involved in the radicalisation of the bombers, but equally so could their potty training as children.

The critical factor is their probable brainwashing by what sounds much like any other destructive cult, like Aum Shinko, the People's Temple or even the Manson family.

That's why it's important to focus on the cult leaders, without them you've just got a bunch of alienated radical youth, most likely shooting their mouths off and making mistakes, who are going to be easy meat for the security boys.

but equally so could their potty training as children.

So could getting whacked in the head by their mamas ala the photos earlier in the thread. Sheesh - I still can't get over that little ritual.

They should be at the King Fahd Mosque in Culver City, where the 9/11 hijackers went when they came to LA.

All the more reason to build up the Strategic Petroleum Reserve that Gore sold off to his buddies, and to drill ANWR.

There's going to be a LOT of blood spilled before this is over. Better theirs than ours, and better early, before Iran has the bomb, and before NK has many of them, than later.

Delay only helps the other side.

YMMV, but my preference is to treat a cancer aggressively and early.
