(JND) - As I sat down to read through some scripture Thursday night, I reached for the remote to turn off the already-turned-on TV.
It was then that a sit-down session between Jon Stewart and Howrad Dean on Comedy Central's The Daily Show caught my attention. Howard Dean speaking on national television...it's like watching a car crash in slow-motion.
I couldn't resist.
I set down my Bible, turned on the laptop, and prepared my fingers to record what sound bytes might spew from Dean's mouth. I didn't have to wait for long.
"I have yet to find a reference to gay marriage in the Bible." said Dean...
...I'm not the first, and I won't be the last to say this: "Howard Dean, you sir are a complete idiot."
...In a Q&A session by GotQuestions.org: "The Bible clearly and consistently tells us that homosexual activity is a sin (Genesis 19:1-13; Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:26-27; I Cor. 6:9). God does not create a person with homosexual desires. A person becomes a homosexual because of sin( Rom 1:24-27), and ultimately because of their own choice. A person may be born with a greater susceptibility to homosexuality, just as people are born with a tendency to violence and other sins. That does not excuse the person choosing to sin by giving into their sinful desires. If a person is born with a greater susceptibility to anger/rage, does that make it right for them to give into those desires? Of course not! The same is true for homosexuality."
The Q&A also goes on to say, "To give sanction to homosexual marriage would be to give approval to that lifestyle, which the Bible clearly and consistently condemns as sinful. I believe that Christians should stand firmly against the idea of gay marriage....

Mr. Dean knowledge of the Bible is about the same as his knowledge of anything else. Howie, It would be a good idea to read something before you ignorantly expound on it's text.
Nice shot!
Full Disclosure: I dunno about bike paths, but it apparently endorses carpooling: "And all the disciples were together in one Accord."
Second Disclosure: Yes, I'm a bicyclist.
Ping
I do recognize Danny Elfman...very talented guy.
I just lament that guys like Dr. Demento are rare these days. You won't find such independent thinkers, less mainstream folks out there today. Now, it's all big business. What's worse is that the music business today is generally owned by conglomerates which know absolutely nothing about talent. You have a company that makes salad dressing owning record companies and radio/tv stations. They may know how to make salad dressing, but they don't know diddly about talent. Thank God for Dr. Demento and those like him.
the bible has plenty to say about marriage and all of it is about a man and a woman. No where in the bible is the act of marriage described as a man and a man or a woman and a woman. Dean is brain dead, spiritually bankrupt and a disgrace to the entire human race. He belongS to be proctected by PETA.
Okay, Okay - I'll ping it out!
:-)
I just figured who cares what Howeird says.
Actually, I'll ping it out in a while.
You nailed it (so to speak). The stories I've heard from Iraq are similar to the stories I've heard from Afghanistan. They seem to be a (barely) functioning society of queers.
1) Jesus says absolutely nothing about homosexuality.
2) Jesus does condemn divorce.
3) If one Christian church recognizes same-sex marriage and another does not, why should government make any distinction? A contract is a contract, is it not?
There is also:
1 Corinthians 7:9 (New International Version)
9But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.
---
Which could be used to justify same sex marriage.
2) Jesus does condemn divorce.
3) If one Christian church recognizes same-sex marriage and another does not, why should government make any distinction? A contract is a contract, is it not?
Regarding item 1 (I assume you may just be ignorant and not simply making a pro-homosexual argument?)
If you are not too well versed in Sacred Scripture I would suggest you not reference it; as such use with lack of knowledge as an authoritative reference might lead one to accuse you of being a morally relative liberal...
It is interesting you use Jesus as constraint -- Most homosexual apologetics and homosexual activists tend to want only 'specifics' and only New Testament stuff -your statement is similar and goes one step further only specifically pointing to Christ -I hope you have just been misinformed and are not one of [those] -the specificity of your declaration implies something errant.
You may know some of what I post already; however, I will post it anyway just in case you genuinely are seeking answers and also for those that may not know and would benefit.
Of course, you realize that Old Testament law is still quite valid -Christ did not do away with the law (see New Testament # 1 below). Old Testament penalties of man may have been done away with; however, the 'old law' is still in effect, mortal sin is still mortal sin and still damages the soul and can condemn one to damnation. I would suggest that condemnation of homosexual activity does not really have to be specific -take the condemnation of sex outside of marriage for example (e.g. unchastitiy; see New Testament # 2 below).
Finally, as to what you wished to accomplish with your statement -only you and God really know; however, regardless, this information I post for you should be more than adequate enough for you UNLESS you would would seek ignorance and or deceit by omission and possibly promulgate false authenticity in truth perverted.
New Testament: Sacred Scripture on subject of homosexuality:
- Matthew 5:1-48
17 "Do not think that I have come to abolish the law or the prophets. I have come not to abolish but to fulfill.
18 Amen, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or the smallest part of a letter will pass from the law, until all things have taken place.
19 Therefore, whoever breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do so will be called least in the kingdom of heaven. But whoever obeys and teaches these commandments will be called greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
- Matthew 15:1-39
19 For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, unchastity, theft, false witness, blasphemy.
- 1 Timothy 1:1-20
8 We know that the law is good, provided that one uses it as law,
9 with the understanding that law is meant not for a righteous person but for the lawless and unruly, the godless and sinful, the unholy and profane, those who kill their fathers or mothers, murderers,
10 the unchaste, practicing homosexuals, kidnapers, liars, perjurers, and whatever else is opposed to sound teaching,
11 according to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, with which I have been entrusted.
- 1 Corinthians 6:1-20
9 Do you not know that the unjust will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators nor idolaters nor adulterers nor boy prostitutes nor practicing homosexuals
10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor robbers will inherit the kingdom of God.
- Romans 1:1-32
22 While claiming to be wise, they became fools
23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for the likeness of an image of mortal man or of birds or of four-legged animals or of snakes.
24 Therefore, God handed them over to impurity through the lusts of their hearts for the mutual degradation of their bodies.
25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie and revered and worshiped the creature rather than the creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
25 Therefore, God handed them over to degrading passions. Their females exchanged natural relations for unnatural,
26 and the males likewise gave up natural relations with females and burned with lust for one another. Males did shameful things with males and thus received in their own persons the due penalty for their perversity.
I guess I intuitively found this thread pre-ping?
Maybe Dean is talking about the Satanic Bible?

LOL
P.S. Considering your history of few postings that have a 'uniue' perspective some may even accuse you of being a 'sleeper troll' LOL
LOL -should be 'unique'...
