If Clement gets on the Court and votes to uphold Roe, I will have to concede that the plan to vote Republican to stop abortion has failed. And that means I won't be voting Republican again.

Just left a comment to that same effect on the White House comment line. Sounds just like Souter to me.

Why are we shying away from a fight? Is the President unhappy that Clarence Thomas is sitting on the court? We almost had Bork on the court, too. And if the GOP really had guts, Edith Jones would be sitting in Souter's chair.

Jury is definitely out on Clement. But the GOP has no balls whatsoever. They want compromise, they get compromise. They want the best, they have to fight for it. They don't have the mettle to fight for it, apparently.
