"Spectre" is also well grounded in "Scottish Law". He is a lout who believes in "moderation" and miracle bullets.

Clement thinks Roe V. Wade is "settled" law.

Come on everyone. He's not going to nominate Specter. Why would he appoint an aged RINO, who very well could be in his last term, and allow Rendell to appoint a young Democrat in his place, knowing how tough incumbents are to defeat? I don't know how this rumor got started, but quite frankly it's rather silly.

"How about the most qualified person, regardless of sex or race?"

Thank you!

All of this "quota" talk (replace a woman with a woman, or, hey, maybe the first Hispanic) drives me completely nuts. I thought the time for affirmative action was past.

If we ever get a pro-life governor again who'll sign it. (Unless the abortion prohibition law is still on the books, that is. In that case, it could go into effect immediately, depending on the USSC ruling.)

Clement was a district court (trial court) judge until 3-4 years ago. I follow 5th Circuit judges pretty closely and I have no idea what Clement's judicial philosophy is (see my post #427). She simply has no decipherable paper trail. Hence, she is a "Souter," meaning someone with no documented judicial philosophy. A pig in a poke.

As far as belonging to the Federalist Society, people belong to that/ go to its meetings for many different purposes. It is a good sign but hardly definitive of one's judicial views.

I don't think that anyone is saying that Clement is liberal so much as no one really knows what she is, and we refuse to accept her on faith that it may all turn out right somehow. Too much is at stake.

Arlen is working on his own legacy now.

Yes and no. The GOP can still change the senate rules and Arlen could lose his chairmanship of the judiciary. There are an awful lot of conservatives to whom Arlen is deeply indebted for his reelection. Santorum, whose seat is in jeopardy anyway, can just write this election off if Bush nominates a "moderate", or if Arlen protests a conservative. Arlen is too much a part of the old boy network to turn his back on his friends now.

Well, this all boils down to whether or not you trust the President, doesn't it? I do. You don't.

I'm not going to argue. I prefer to wait and see. If it is Clement, we will have to pay attention to her testimony before the Judiciary Committee.

I don't know anything about here. It's amazing. As much time as I spend keeping up with current events, it seems these people appear out of thin air onto the national stage.

Clement thinks Roe V. Wade is "settled" law.

For a circuit court judge, it IS "settled law".

The only way to save the conservative movement is a Buchanan/Tancredo ticket in 2008. This will be the most powerful presidential ticket ever and will guarantee that we win 82.7% of the popular votes, 50 states, 68 Senators, and 378 House representatives. The question remains who will be on the top, will it be Buchanan on the top of Tancredo or Tancredo on the top of Buchanan? Buchananites and Tancrdoites among us please help me in telling which is the favorite position of your guys. I think they must go in turns of who will be on the top of whom.

End of extreme sarcasm.

"She is a member of the Federalist Society, an influential conservative legal organization.

Isn't that conservative enough?"

Not to the Bush hating Rinos pretending to be Republicans on Free Republic.

I am listening to my own concept not the medias. Pure speculation which we all do. It is still very difficult to get over giving away 50 billion dollars(your's and mine) tax money to the P.A. to rebuild their infrastructure.

Let me also say I voted for President Bush and I do not always agree with everything he may do.

As to (Spectre) I would trust a one-eyed-jack anytime, before I would trust him.

I do appreciate your concern and respect your post. Remember this, we are on the same team and may at times disagree. NSNR
