I was looking at the WBAP website, and noticed that, on their job board, they are advertising for a talk show host, 6 pm - 9 pm.
WBAP is the 50,000 watt Dallas/Ft. Worth AM station which hosts Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Paul Harvey, Jerry Doyle, and was where Mike Gallagher worked when he was just a local talk show host.
Here's the direct link:
Hey, I'm in.
Yes, they do the trucker show, but one of the host, Joe Kelly left on Friday, and there is a new co=host, Todd Quigley. I do not know where Joe is going, but I suspect he is looking for a day job, so that he can be with his family more.
Calling AnnaZ!
Polish up that resume!
I know I couldn't do it. :-)
But there are some FReepers w/ experience. Who knows?
I listen to WBAP every day and I don't get that impression at all.
"...but not interested in moving to Texas."
It is hot and humid as you would ever want to deal with right now. I don't blame you.
Cool - I am willing to bloviate, for cash - see my profile for resume.
Talk radio is my dream job.
Yo Dave, ping! (And if you can offer a FReeperette some hints about getting on el radio, 'twould be much appreciated!)
Don't know who you listen too but how much and what depth do they cover thr real underside of illegal immigration, the FTAA or the coming North American Community or any discussion as to why and how the Patriot Act wasn't even read by many members of Congress and even repudiated by I think over 200 U.S. cities, etc.?
As long as that fool Tom Tancredo doesn't get on there and make us look as fringe as Howard Dean and the Libs.
I'll take the job.
I used to love to listen to WBAP in the mornings when I lived down there (Hal Jay and Dick Siegel were their names I think). Dick was a traffic jockey who they would go to to get an update and he'd be hovering over a pool full of bikini clad women. My favorite was the time he had some reporterette in the copter with him and Hal got concerned as to who was in charge so he asked "Who's driving?" and the reporterette replied, "Well he's driving my leg right now." I had to pull over to the side of the road I was laughing so hard.
If they'd let me do the show from here (Atlanta), I'd take it in a heartbeat. But I doubt they'd go for that.
I nominate Kristinn!
That sucks. I like Gar.
Ping.
Hal Jay and Dick! I loved them! I also liked the blonde who would do the traffic reports over Dallas while Dick covered Ft. Worth.
Wasn't Dick in a fixed wing while she was in a helicopter? Seems to me I strongly remember thinking Uh-Oh, traffic problem ahead, when I'd see his plane circling.
Can't talk. Which is rare for me.
You should apply!
And if you (or any other FReeper) gets the gig, please FReepmail me.
(I want braggin' rights!)
