OTTAWA, July 15, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Mr. Abdul Hai Patel, of the Islamic Council of Imams Canada, made a presentation to the Senate Committee on the gay 'marriage' legislation Wednesday. During his presentation he noted that he is a "former commissioner of the Ontario Human Rights Commission," and from his experience believes that the gay 'marriage' law, "if exercised, can become a subject of future challenges with respect to the Ontario Human Rights Code."
In his comments before the Senate, the Imam noted that pro-gay and anti-religious discrimination in schools in Canada commenced more than a decade ago. "Education in schools on homosexuality started way back in the 1990s, in 1992 or 1993 in the Toronto school board . . . A number of Muslim parents objected, along with other parents, but they have no choice. In the name of tolerance, they have to be in that classroom. They said if you are not in the classroom, your community, your faith is intolerant."
Imam Patel continued, "This is the trend we are going with; and the trend for changing the contents of the Bible or the Koran or the Torah has already started in the name of hate crimes. Some of the verses of the three major scriptures of the world will come under the hate crimes of Ontario and other provinces. They will say these verses should be taken out or changed. This demand is already there. Where will we stop? That is the concern I have."
The gay 'marriage' law is likely to be enacted into law next week.
I suspect that what Patel is really worried about is people taking a closer look at some of the verses in the Koran, in particular the ones about killing infidels.
I don't think he really gives a rip about the Bible.
"..if they start censoring the Bible in Canada, can Europe or the US be far behind?"
Of course not. Its already begun in this Country. In our lifetime we may end up in prison or dead over taking a stand on the side of God's Word.

Knights of Columbus' denial of wedding hall to lesbians watched closely in Canada
Canadian lesbians Deborah Chymyshyn and Tracey Smith found just the hall they wanted to rent for their 2003 wedding reception. It was managed by the Knights of Columbus, an organization they thought was the same as the Elks. Um, no. After the Knights, a conservative Catholic organization, figured out that the two were lesbians, it refunded their money, paid for a different reception hall and paid to have the women's invitations reprinted with the proper address. Not bad. The British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal is still considering its response to the situation, which illustrates the fears some have about how a likely federal marriage law and religious freedom will intersect in Canada.
I agree. A muslim I see eye to eye with...on this point anyway.
And I think it is pretty cool that he was inclusive by mentioning the Bible, Koran and Torah, too.
Its a ploy that the secularists can't and won't see through since they are godless and won't acknowledge any higher power than themselves.
They'll have to pry my King James from my cold, dead fingers.
ping
Satan's running the show.
"Canada will have the "Queen James" version of the Bible"
And will rewrite their National Anthem:
O Canada!
Our gay and native land!
Gay patriot love, with all thy sons we command.
With glowing hearts we see the rise,
Of the True North gay community!
From far and wide,
O Canada, we stand with gays for thee.
Gays will keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we are the gay community.
O Canada, we are the gay community.
Wonder how this will impact professional hockey :-)
Isn't there a dire warning from God about changing/revising the Bible?
Or any of the other diabolical passages! Nope, I am quite certain his Koran remains intact.
Yeah, I am aware of this. My ok of the iman is a very limited and qualified one.
I agree. My gut tells me he is using this to ensure that Qur'anic scripture be included in any discussion about Christian and Jewish views of homosexuality. He places emphasis, after all, on the "three" major scriptures of the world and it is apparent to me that he is looking down the road to the possibility that the rest of us will decide that either a good chunk of the Qur'an needs to be rewritten or Islam in its entirety will be banned. It's a set-up, folks.
"Wonder how this will impact professional hockey"
As a Sabre's fan growing up in Buffalo, and after watching "Hockey Night in Canada" for years, I learned to sing the Canadian anthem in English and French.
This is just so wrong on so many levels.
Well said. You are exactly right.
