OTTAWA, July 15, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Mr. Abdul Hai Patel, of the Islamic Council of Imams Canada, made a presentation to the Senate Committee on the gay 'marriage' legislation Wednesday. During his presentation he noted that he is a "former commissioner of the Ontario Human Rights Commission," and from his experience believes that the gay 'marriage' law, "if exercised, can become a subject of future challenges with respect to the Ontario Human Rights Code."
In his comments before the Senate, the Imam noted that pro-gay and anti-religious discrimination in schools in Canada commenced more than a decade ago. "Education in schools on homosexuality started way back in the 1990s, in 1992 or 1993 in the Toronto school board . . . A number of Muslim parents objected, along with other parents, but they have no choice. In the name of tolerance, they have to be in that classroom. They said if you are not in the classroom, your community, your faith is intolerant."
Imam Patel continued, "This is the trend we are going with; and the trend for changing the contents of the Bible or the Koran or the Torah has already started in the name of hate crimes. Some of the verses of the three major scriptures of the world will come under the hate crimes of Ontario and other provinces. They will say these verses should be taken out or changed. This demand is already there. Where will we stop? That is the concern I have."
The gay 'marriage' law is likely to be enacted into law next week.
Ping!
No, by Jingo! Ontario, the buck (of passing ridiculous laws) stops here! Don't make me bring out my invisible flying monkey army of D00m (TM 2004-2139 A.D.).
So....Canada will have the "Queen James" version of the Bible...??
I wonder when we'll start seeing suicide bombings in Canada?
The fact that this is even something that is in the realm of possibility (if it in fact is) means that Canada is no longer a free country, or a "western democracy" as we know it.
Anti-Christ, or Antichrist. Sound familiar?
BUMP
I wonder how much this will/would contribute to the dissolution of Canada? Quebec already wants to bail for unrelated reasonsl; might this be enough to prod at least the western provinces into telling Ottawa to get bent?
Am I the only one who noticed this man is a Muslim? I say congrats to him and way to go on not making this a one religion issue but pointing out that this is about the anti-religion groups who are a threat to ANY and ALL religions!
The Imam has a point here.
Now that was uncalled for - and dammed funny.
Hugh Owens, an evangelical Christian, of Saskatchewan was found guilty of violating the "rights" of homosexuals after he took out an advertisement in the Saskatoon Star-Phoenix newspaper that simply quoted Bible verses condemning homosexuality, and included an illustration of two stick-figure men holding hands with a slash drawn through them. Owens is appealing that ruling as well.
Mayors in Hamilton and London, Ont. have been found guilty and penalized by human rights commissions after they refused to proclaim "gay pride days" in their cities.
So, when will the Christians speak up..better yet, do something instead of just lament.
Really? Prove it!!!! I dare you, I absolutely DARE YOU to change the contents of a Koran.
You won't you little wimp because you know you will not get away with it and your head will be removed and used as a hockey puck.
You can only pick on christians because, unlike Islams, Bible readers will not slice your fool head off!
This is only the beginning, isn't it? Next will come the outright banning of the Bible. Canada is turning into Iran Minor.
Nope. It's coming and we will appease them. That's what everyone does to the "religion of peace", isn't it? We are quickly PC'ing ourselves into extinction.
Religious oppression in Canada.
yep
