"Now there is growing concern they could become deadly conduits for terrorism"

NOW?!? there is 'growing concern'?!?!?

Any day now they will figure out the sun rises in the east

But they are just 'peaceful undocumented workers' wanting a better life working in the lawn care and domestic industry!

The Minutemen need to get to the Big Bend National Park, ASAP!

and to heck with any Washington or Austin pencil pushers that get mad.

I love these politicians sitting in their offices saying that "Yup, something needs to be done......."

I know that Cornyn has been going around the state meeting with police and sheriff officials as well as the border control.

Also, Cornyn got really mad on Friday, when he found out that Frist had removed immigration reform from the summer calendar, and told Cornyn he "hopes" they will get to it in the fall, which means it won't get done this year.

During the cold war, we made a concerted effort to control foreign spies on U.S. soil. What has been extremely disconcerting to me, is that our current leadership has simply capitulated the field in the U.S., to all comers across our southern border.

It actually goes beyond this for me though. This is 'our' nation. It is not El Presidente Fox's. None the less, El Presidente Fox sets our border policies by default.

I'm sick of this President Bush. Are you a mouse or a man when it comes to the sactitiy of OUR borders and OUR nation?

Did you or did you not have your fingers crossed when you swore to uphold Article 4 Section 4 of the Constitution of the United States?

These people have probably already entered the county. That memo was from March, so I'm sure we'll be hearing explosions before long, and when we do, Bush is going to be blamed. Rightfully so!

>>Officials from both sides of the border downplayed the possible threat but acknowledged that it is the sort of scenario they have to guard against. The prospect of terrorists crossing the southern border has been a rising concern among officials in Texas and Washington.<<

No, they are concerned about what the backlash will be from the American citizens who have moaned, begged and pleaded for four years to secure our borders. Then their is the outlandish idea that even illegal aliens who crossed the border might have relatives who would seek revenge against Mexican politicians if the illegal aliens were killed.

This could very well be one long, hot and violent summer. The anger within the American people is rising. That is quite obvious from these threads.

Let me try again, since the Admin Moderator justly chastised my language and removed my post #5.

Those Daschles (my original word was a "not-quite-rhymes" for this) forgot Arizona and California.

Full Disclosure: the technical term for "not quite rhymes" is an "assonance".

Cheers!

In exchange for the Zetas' help in recruiting drivers, the memo says, the Arab - who barely speaks Spanish - promised to help them fund and execute a plan to free Gulf cartel leader Osiel Cardenas from prison.

LOL, if you are going to fabricate a story try to make it sound plausable. A drug cartel needing funding?? Now if the "Arab" had offered to launder a billion or two of cocaine cash it might of been believable.

The drug cartels aren't making billions because they are stupid.

I don't think they would be willing to kill the goose that lays golden eggs for them.

Sealing the border by itself will not solve our illegal immigration problem. We need interior enforcement and to turn off the magnet. But, let me also say that even if we magically had no illegal immigrant problem, the threat of terror demands we put military patrols on the border. If some here think that is impossible, trust me, if we have a cross-border terror event, you'll see all kinds of troups on the border. The question is whether we put them there ist or after an event.

ON THE NET...

WorldNetDaily.com: Washington - "MEXICAN DRUG COMMANDOS EXPAND OPS IN 6 US STATES" (ARTICLE SNIPPET: "The ultra-violent, U.S.-trained elite, Mexican paramilitary commandos known as the "Zetas," responsible for hundreds of murders along the border this year, have expanded their enforcement efforts on behalf of a drug cartel by setting up trafficking routes in six U.S. states. A U.S. Justice Department memo says the U.S.-trained units have recently moved operations into Houston, San Antonio and the states of California, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Georgia and Florida. They have been operating in Dallas for at least two years, according to the feds.") (June 21, 2005) (Read More...)
