July 6, 2005 -- A racist ex-con confessed that he fatally stabbed a beloved mother of two at a White Plains mall because he wanted "to kill a white person." "She was not innocent. She was white," convicted rapist Phillip Grant confessed in a chilling videotaped statement to cops that was played in White Plains City Court yesterday — the same day victim Concetta Russo Carriero was laid to rest.
The 43-year-old homeless man told cops he had never laid eyes on Russo Carriero, 56, before he stabbed her in the chest twice last Wednesday on the seventh level of the Galleria mall garage.
"All I knew was she had blond hair and blue eyes, and she had to die . . . I didn't care, as long as she was white," he said.
"I wanted to kill someone who represented the white lifestyle."

Of course this happened in New York, so the death penalty is meaningless.
It is Westchester County and Pirro is a Republican who is not afraid to use the death penalty on scumbags like this who murder people, as long as New York's murder statute allows it.
I'm glad there is a picture of her in the paper, so readers can see the face of the victim.
If he got murder 1, would this get him life in prison at least? How about solitary confinement, since he won't get death, which he deserves? It pains me to think this vile scum will probably be happier in prison where he'll have a bed and three meals a day. He'll get treated as well as the terrorists at Guantanamo!
Of course we all know, if the situation had been reversed the deceased would have been another James Byrd. But I dont see any dramatic media memorials on CNN or the other networks.
I remember reading once that, despite the fact that it was the Left crying for "hate crime" laws, most of the people charged with hate crimes are not "white".
Personally, I think every crime is a hate crime - murder is murder.

If you say so, but I seem to recall an incident where NY state was trying to get a murderer extradited there 'cause he was facing the death penalty in another state.

When someone asks what Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton has done for the black community, tell them this story since the self-proclaimed "black leaders" in our country have been preaching for years that all of the ills suffered by blacks are the fault of whites. And isn't it interesting how the MSM has purged our memories of Colin Ferguson?

Hand em their arse has it right, if it was reversed, the MSM would be all over this. Rodney King got more than his fifteen minutes and he lived. Allow this poor lady have her's. Of course the LSM won't because of a small problem, SHE IS DEAD. Dead people don't give interviews.

The RAT DAs in some of the NYC boroughs refuse to follow the law and impose the death penalty, but Republican DAs in the suburbs and upstate will use it if they can.
Pirro has gone on record stating that she would use it and I think may have been the first one in NY to do so when they reinstated the death penalty a few years ago.
Isn't Carriero one of those Latinos that Jesse "Con-man" Jackson wants to unite with? For his advantage, of course.
What you say may be true. I probably should look into it more before making such sarcastic remarks. But having said that, there seems to be no question that hate crimes that get the most media attention are ones with a politically correct line-up of victim and perpetrator.
If life in prison, probably life in solitary. How would the general prison population in New York State deal with such a POS? My preference is the general population works him over good. Then again the Nation of Islam "brothers" might protect him.
Oh, I agree with you about media coverage. And my guess is Sharpton isn't going to be organizing any marches to bring this story to the MSM's attention.
A search of the two names Carriero and Jesse Jackson brought up nothing. I do know that "Russo" (which is I guess her maiden name) is an Italian name, and Carriero might be, too.
