Hello all, this is my first post…. Long time reader, but here go’s…

As we enter the 4th of July weekend I am beginning preparations to attend my daughters graduation from USMC OCS at Quantico. This will be my third trip to the place men and women train to serve their country. To say I am proud of my two Marine daughters is to only admit to obvious …. I lay awake many nights hoping, praying that they will not only be safe, but be the kind of leaders that can cut through the fog of their age and find clarity of purpose. …Our county is starting to foster, harbor and develop people who have no sense of country… concerned for themselves only. To have children who understand that it’s by sacrifice and laying aside a portion of their “individual ness” they can perhaps effect a great difference. Please pray for all our sons and daughters who have stepped out of their peer generation to place their lives on the line for all of us. God Bless them.

God bless your daughters for their choice to serve, and bless you for raising such fine young women.

9.5 years for my son, lol. But he wants to go USAF.

I will pray for the safety of your girls, along with all the rest of our service people.

To be in character, do not call it O C S.
To Marines, it is TBS ( The Basic School)

CONGRATULATIONS to your daughter.

You have a right to be as proud as any Dad can be. Thanks for raising two fine Americans.

God bless both your daughters and the rest of your family. I had hoped to go to a graduation at Quantico back in 2002 but my son wouldn't wait and went to Parris Island. We're waiting to hear sometime in the next few months that he made Sargeant. He's been asked to go to Quantico but enjoys Recon and soon Force more than the officer life.
Your pride comes through in your writing and it is well deserved. Maybe some day our kids will meet.
My wife and I will add you to the long list of Marines we pray for.

Congrats and welcome to Free Republic. Mine graduates in August and I'll be commissioning him. Pride and angst are a strange combination to have.
