The NYT wrote this .................."The syndicated columnist Robert Novak, who first identified Ms. Plame as a C.I.A. officer in a column last July, has identified his sources only as Bush administration officials".

By using the plural form of the words "sources" and "officials" he would be indicating more than one person as his source.

yes, but maybe they are going to lie. maybe Novak lied, and these "magic notes" of Cooper will "confirm" that. let's face it, they could say anything they want, absent an audio tape of the leak - it could be Rove's word against theirs. and you know the media will cover it as fact.

On October 1, 2003 Novak published The CIA Leak. which contains some hints - or deceptions. Here is Novak’s hint for “leak” no. 1:

During a long conversation with a senior administration official, I asked why Wilson was assigned the mission to Niger. He said Wilson had been sent by the CIA's counterproliferation section at the suggestion of one of its employees, his wife. It was an offhand revelation from this official, who is no partisan gunslinger.
Here is Novak’s hint “leak” no. 2:

”When I called another official for confirmation, he said: "Oh, you know about it."

Look at the buzz O'Donnell is creating just by mentioning the name of Karl Rove. It's the old "mud at the wall" trick. Hurl enough of it and some may stick. When the person is identified, many will believe Rove really did it. McLaughlin won't revisit the issue and O'Donnell will slip-slide away.
