your rudeness is shocking.

that is a horrible trap to fall into, IMO, ie; the jewish seat, the woman's seat, the black seat etc. it then becomes like an affirmative action paradigm instead of a court.I concur--adding to the list a Hispanic seat.

Actually, it was both.
The two main reasons I recall in '92 that people revolted against 41 a) taxes b) one world order speak.
So two segments of the conservative branches of the party revolted. Social conservatives and fiscal conservatives.

Leave Scalia with Thomas and we'll call it a deal.
Scalia who helped rule that anything can be regulated by the federal government under interstate commerce, whether it involves interstate or commerce? Please. Scalia kicked principles aside in cuddle up to Bush in the hopes that he'd get a chief justice nomination.
Originalists or nobody.

Dubya, this us your time to shine! Don't blow it Notice that in the prior confirmations of GOP Presidents they have appoint one good judge and one bad judge yet Clintoon got two lib judges appointed.
The country NEEDS Bush to get two strict conservative judges. We can't even afford a 50-50 type justice like O'Connor.

the Supreme Court is the end game. it is much more a determinant of what becomes of our society than any elected officeholder who can be booted out after their term is up. the havoc that a lifetime appointee to the Sup Ct can wreak is considerable and that is why halfway or GOOD ENOUGH, is not GOOD ENOUGH. this is what it is all about right here.

They were interviewing Judge Edith Clement recently, under the radar conservative from the 5th Circuit. I tried to look up some info on her. She sounds like a "stealth candidate" now this could be a good thing or a bad thing. In the past we've been burned by stealth candidates.

Thank you, Sandra Day O'Connor!![](http://www.foxnews.com/images/167996/0_21_oconnor_sandra_day2.jpg)

"Not only should a proven track record be required, but ironclad assurances must be received in grillings in private meetings over just where the candidate stands on important constitutional issues. If Mr. Bush doesn't have the guts to do this, we will reap the unpleasant harvest for years." I agree. I'm waiting to see if Bush and the spineless republicans in Congress effectively kill the party. If he doesn't nominate an originalist & instead votes for someone "easy to confirm", I promise THIS DAY that I'll never vote Republican again. Chastise me for losing the majority - oh well. What have they done for us ANYWAYS?!
To: ubaldus
I don't know about her, but I believe you are right that it will be "someonebody under the radar," Bush is always surprising. It will probably be someone none of us is discussing.

Janice Brown would be great. I love what she said about the Public Schools:
The public school system is already so beleaguered by bureaucracy; so cowed by the demands of due process; so overwhelmed with faddish curricula that its educational purpose is almost an afterthought.

Who are the most trusted, loved, clean conservatives in America? Ignore whether or not they are lawyers.

I don't believe this is a surprize. I remember when the Bush/Gore election results were initially reported that Gore had won, O'Connor was quoted as saying "Damn, I wanted to retire, now I can't retire." She has been on record that she wanted to retire for 5 years.

I want a true constitutional conservative. Nothing less will do, and I think I'm not standing here alone. AMEN!

You wrote:"petal to the metal". I believe the phrase is "pedal to the metal".
She's a woman. "Petal to the Metal" is sort of cute coming from a woman. She should keep using it.
I'm cute...someone thinks I'm cute....well besides Mr. Twin2
