Over 100 Congressmen Introduce Amendment that Would Protect Religious Expression on Public Property

Melanie Hunter / Aimee Herd reporting (Jun 30, 2005) Breaking Christian News

CNS News is reporting that more than 100 members of congress have joined together in an effort to introduce a constitutional amendment protecting religious expression on public property. The amendment would essentially reverse the Supreme Court's recent ruling on the Ten Commandments, which resulted in the removal of the Decalogue from a Kentucky courthouse.

Rep. Roscoe Bartlett of Maryland stated,

"Deeply religious European colonists escaped the two tyrannies of the crown and the church and came to America. Our founders created a country and a Constitution that protected the ability of individuals to freely express their respective religions in public life. They had no fear of religion in the public square. They felt that religious faith was vitally important to create and maintain our democratic republic as a just society. What they opposed was a state religion. The latest pair of Supreme Court decisions adds to decades of confusion about what seems so simple to most Americans."
Emphases mine.

<> Be nice to my Congressman from Wisconsin. (giggle, giggle) He is far better than my two Democratic senators in Washington (Feingold & Kohl)(Puke) FYI-Sensenbrenner can get pretty grumby but he is a fighting machine for his district.

It is really lovely, isn't it, and, of course, W's grand words are there forever. Found it here ... G. Harvey is the artist, and the gallery is selling the posters:

"God Bless America ( Washington D.C. )

G. Harvey is donating the entire proceeds from this poster to the victims of the events of Sept. 11th and their families. The proceeds will be shared by the New York State World Trade Center Relief Fund and the Survivors' Fund of the National Capital Region.
