I'm hearing a variety of reports of layoffs at CNN in Atlanta. Here are the e-mails and anonymous tips:
> "CNN is getting rid of a chunk of employees in Atlatna. Two old friends, who so far have survived, just called to say it's as bad as the 2001 layoffs, which were really, really awful. It went beyond depressing, it was so unprofessional how they handled it, spreading the layoffs over a 3-5 day period. Now they're doing it before a holiday weekend when they think people won't notice which is awful because it's SO pre-meditated. Jonathan Klein continues to destroy that network, employee by employee."
> "Two more atlanta EP's fired at CNN today," an e-mailer said on Tuesday. "Klein continues to cut staff in atlanta, and destroy what little programming we had originating here, but the ratings continue to drop in his big push to NY and DC."
> "A black day for CNN, a black day for CNN Center in Atlanta, and a very black day for the staff in Atlanta. I think the goal of [Jon Klein] is to keep morale at CNN as low as possible. The mood in the newsroom is just horrible."
> An e-mailer tells WHAC: "...Producers, directors, and copy editors being shown the door due to staffing cuts...Union-forming rumors are beginning as Atlanta staff tries to combat management's horrible handling of the latest round of Atlanta downsizing."

The sad thing is that executives at CNN probably think they're geting beat because they aren't being left-wing enough.

Actually, if someone's "job" is to bore holes in the bottom of the boat, the loss of his job does not elicit sympathy from this quarter.
Former CNN employees used to have a site bashing the network. It was really hilarious, as when they hired Andrea Thompson from NYPD Blue to be a reader on Headline Nws, and her more risque filmwork was, ahem, exposed. Sorry I can't remember the url.
It's sad to see people get fired, having gone through that once myself, but it's hard to shed any tears in this situation.
The only time I watch CNN is on election night, to see all the long faces at the dem's being defeated yet again.
After their coverup of Saddam's torture chambers and accusations that our military was targeting journalists, really, it couldn't happen to a more deserving network.
I actually don't care if Eason Jordan ever works again, of course, but I am sorry for the secretaries, cleaning crew, cameramen, etc. to be out of work.
Klein is destroying CNN. Granted I never liked CNN's left leanings but I liked Inside Politics, Crossfire, Capital Gang, and news at the noon hour, now they gotten rid of all that and at noon have some cnn international show.
They took all the political shows off the network and are replacing it with garbage.
Klein is a moron.
Also Bill Hemmer is much better morning anchor than Miles O'Brein who puts you to sleep.
The one that needs to be fired is Klein he doesn't know what he is doing.
CNN would rather die than change its culture of statism, socialism and liberalism. So be it.
