Vice-President Casey? After watching the Senate Hearings this week where Teddy Kennedy quizzed Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, a phoenix arose from the ashes of liberal angst that resulted from the Senator's inability to score any political points by attacking the administration's execution of the War on Terror. General William Casey's stellar performance in refuting Ted's outrageous claims about the lack of progress in the War on Terror and the lack of military success in Iraq prompted several people to contact us with the suggestion of General Casey as a potential running mate for Dr. Rice. (Click here to see an excerpt. here to see an excerpt. Note: We're getting better quality video soon.) Fred Barnes, the executive editor of The Weekly Standard and co-host of Fox News' The Beltway Boys, said yesterday that the Senator, "was shot down big time," by General Casey, the Multinational Force Commander in Iraq. Although we have every confidence that Dr. Rice can pick her own VP candidate, maybe it's time for General Casey to retire and become a registered Republican? (Although he's doing a great job in Iraq for the time being.) It is interesting to note that in our current VP poll, General Tommy Franks is just a couple of votes behind the front runner Rudy Giuliani. So, the idea of a former military leader for VP appears to be popular. Look for General Casey's name in an upcoming poll.
Sorry. That's a pipe dream that will never happen.
I don't know about his future as a VP candidate, but I sure wish he would have offered driving lessons to Ted Kennedy!
You misunderstand the post. After his Senate testimony, we received these expressions of support. This is not an official position of our group. Just because we list a potential VP candidate in our polls, does not mean that we approve, disapprove, endorse, or don't endorse that individual.
By the way, since you are so concerned about having held elective office, are you supporting John McCain, Rudy, Hillary?
Condi says she wouldn't run for class president. At this point I'm not sure I would vote for her if she did.
It won't be Condoleeza Rice. She says she doesn't want the job, and I believe her.
We shouldn't have to drag our President into the White House.
I'm not sure I would agree that we should have to "drag" our President into the White House
A reluctant President might be better than a professional politician and perpetual hubristic self-righteous narcissist such as Lurch, the Hilda-beast, Bore or massive Fruitcake Dean!
At least Rice is a little aquainted with pragmatic reality.
She's also Secretary of State. She has a job to do and she should be allowed to do it.
There is no evidence that she has any political skills nor the fire in the belly necessary to run for office.
Folks who want to draft her are reading things into Dr. Rice that are simply not there.
only people who WIN wars have a chance..............
After seeing Dr. Rice "demand" that Israel stop its "illegal" "settlement" activity in the "West Bank", she can forget my vote for anything above dog catcher. Power corrupts, but State Department power corrupts absolutely.
No. A General officer shouldn't go directly from the military into politics. It's a little too close to the "man on a horse" phenomenon. I have immense respect for the military, but we should be very careful about breaking down the separation between the military and civilian side of government.
I have immense respect for the military, but we should be careful about. If he's politically inclined, let him do something in the civilian world for a few years first, as Eisenhower and others have done.
And besides, one afternoon's performance on Capitol Hill is a pretty slender reed to form an opinion of whether he's suited for political office. He may be a Democrat for all anyone knows. Not cracking on Casey here, he may be a fine man. It's just WAY premature to be talking abou this.
