So, you want both the presidential and vice-presidential nominees of the GOP in 2008 to be candidates who have never held public office?

Sorry. That's a pipe dream that will never happen.

I don't know about his future as a VP candidate, but I sure wish he would have offered driving lessons to Ted Kennedy!

After seeing Dr. Rice "demand" that Israel stop its "illegal" "settlement" activity in the "West Bank", she can forget my vote for anything above dog catcher. Power corrupts, but State Department power corrupts absolutely.

No. A General officer shouldn't go directly from the military into politics. It's a little too close to the "man on a horse" phenomenon. I have immense respect for the military, but we should be very careful about breaking down the separation between the military and civilian side of government.

I have immense respect for the military, but we should be careful about. If he's politically inclined, let him do something in the civilian world for a few years first, as Eisenhower and others have done.
