They are. But the populace doesn't know it, because the effects of this decision haven't manifested themselves yet. It won't be long though before developers and politicians begin to steal private property as a result of this ruling. Then people may begin to pay attention, but by then it may be too late.
They have proven that they will not uphold the constitution.
But do the people know and care?
The rule of law cannot long endure without evenhanded sensible rulings from the courts.
The notion that the Constitution is what the SCOTUS says it is seems pretty well established to me. I'm not sure if we've passed the point of no return.

As I posted on another thread, this ruling enrages people of all political persuasions because it endangers a basic human survival need: shelter.
What is infuriating is that unlike the little guy, these justices are in no danger of having to move their families and lose a huge amount of value in the biggest investment that most people ever make: their homes.
The Supreme Court originally over-extended eminent domain, and now they've upheld their stupid decision.
Eminent domain is supposed to be for building roads and parks, not for handing land over to other private individuals and corporations. That's called "theft."
The MI supremes later reversed that ruling in another
lawsuit (in Wayne County). I suppose now that the
USSC decision reverses that reversal.
Very sad day for private property rights..

I can't believe everyone can be against it and it still passes. Something 'extreme' needs to happen.

I find that people that rent rather than buy homes, will care little about this question because it is not their investment being stolen by the government.
If taking away property that you poured your earnings into, made high monthly payments for years, developed it, improved it and the government come in and give you 10 cents on the dollar?
I would think that could eventually cause an uprising.
Why doesn't the supreme court just admit that as far as the court is concerned, citizens are property of the state and therefore cannot own real estate.

Time to vote with our feet. I am moving somewhere that respects property rights. The only other option is revolution and since the American people are sheep, thats as likely as snow Texas in July.
I hate to say it, but you have a point. When a swamp judge in Florida can trump the President and Congress, who is going to stand up to the SCOTUS?

Come on I live in Chicago where they would arrest you for bribing with such a small sum as 200 grand. That would not provide enough to go up the line and payoff all with their hands out.
Which is actually the point. These are LOCAL problems and can only be prevented/corrected at the local level. Looking for salvation from Washington will not be successful.
