I did a google of the Aruba Chamber of Commerce, but couldn't come up with a list of members, except with the name Ubald (sp) "Jani" Croes, who is a Senior board member of the chamber. Identified as a prominent Architect.

I don't know about anyone else but I am getting real tired of everyone on the news saying how "safe" Aruba is. Daily someone comments on how beautiful, safe, etc. this place is. Who cares? Heck, this is NOT THE ISSUE - We are not concerned about Aruba's reputation. Nor does our media have to show some evedince that we want to protect their tourist trade and not harm it!

CitizenM this is in response to some US media talkmeister that started out with condeming Aruba, O'Reilly, Whoreraldo, this Dee Fine woman amont others calling for a boycott of Aruba. There are at least 2 on-line petitions that are calling for a boycott of the island.

I wonder if a tourist or a vacationer has ever come up missing in the US, I wonder if there are still missing tourist in the US, I wonder if there are still missing Americans still missing in the US. Have we been boycotted because someone came up missing here? Should we boycott ourselves? Tourism is Aruba's economy. I believe the Arubans are concerned about Natalee, even her mother says so. However

PS..It has been previously reported that the 4th persons father is a "prominent Aruba business man". That's why I concluded he would be on the Chamber of Commerce.

latest info at hasibokos.com confirms a lot of what we have already heard, but the part about the PM needing an english language course gave me a chuckle.....

UPDATE 29: Hasibokos.com has just received information and confirmation that there has been an additional arrest in the Natalee Holloway case. We can also inform that the Aruban court decided today to extend the arrest of the 3 young suspects without charging them officially for a crime. We also learned that the prime minister of Aruba, Nelson Oduber, is facing a lot of criticism for is personal involvement in the case. Yesterday Andin Bikker of the political party Democrasia Real, criticized the prime minister publicly for coming forward and getting himself personally involved in the Holloway case. According to Bikker, a the prime minister should abstain himself from personal involvement in all judicial cases and let the justice department do his job. Bikker relates the arrest of the (recently released) security guards directly to the pressure that has been put on the justice department to quickly find someone to blame/prosecute. Bikker also criticized the prime minister for his poor ability to express himself in the Enlish language. Bikker advised the prime minister to take an English language course.

Why is the victim always to blame rather than the scum who took advantage of her and probably killed her.

I think that is because sometimes the victim has to take some responsibility for their actions. For instance, if you stand in the middle of the road at night and get hit by a car, is the driver the only one at fault? Could the pedestrian have done somthing different that would have changed the outcome?

Oh my, I didn't know about the boycott, and agreed - that is soooo ridiculous. But, when anything bad happens anywhere how much air-time is ever given to how lovely the area is (if, indeed it is)? We all know that people visit good and dangerous places every day (take NY, Chicago, other big cities here and overseas). I know Arubians are concerned, and I have been very impressed with the amt. of people just searching voluntarily. I don't feel it is the fault of Aruba, and would visit there (if I liked sand, the ocean and heat - I like the mountains).

However, I feel this constant "Aruba is beautiful" theme is being jammed down our throats for the sake of Aruba - not for the sake of Natalee. Aruba will recover...let's hope the same is true for Natalee!

Out of curiosity, do you think the Arubian govt has taken full advantage of our investigative sources?

Full? Perhaps not. My understanding is that the Arubian government is not the only one involve in this and they have very little say so or authority. Something to do with them being apartheidAnd do you not believe the charge Keating made about the FBI having to watch interrogations behind a glass partition without being allowed to aid in the line of questioning?

Could be possible, evidently someone has informed Keating of this. The FBI is not in the US, they are in another country and are actually guests.

Also LE here in the states watch interrogations behind glass partitions and probably at times without being allowed to participate in the line of questioning if they have not been assigned to the case in questioned.

Aruba is beautiful but there is gambling there, drugs and an unsavory feel about the island. When I was in Aruba I didn't like being off the beaten path. But the same feeling in other islands. St Martin, Bonaire, Cozumel, Barbados all felt different, safer. But the others I have been to I didn't feel safe. Caymens were okay but Jamaica, Aruba, St Lucia, Guadeloupe,,I wouldn't let my daughters out of my sight.

I believe the Aruban government's strategy is to stall and wait for the American media to move on, then quietly sweep this under the rug.

The reason that I cannot buy that is that Natalee was last seen on May 30th, the FBI was requested and was on the ground in Aruba June 2nd if not before.

I hope I'm wrong and you are right. However, here are Two Points to consider:

1. The FBI is not in control of the investigation. They have no legal authority. It's true they could put great public pressure on the Arubans if they wished. For instance, using the Aruban Attorney General's own statement, if an FBI spokemans were to pubicly say "We find the Attorney General's statement very disturbing", that would send a clear signal to the Arubans. The fact that they refuse to apply any public media pressure is due to (2.)

2. The FBI will play this the way the US State Department wants them to. The US State Dept. doesn't give a rat's behind about the lives of American citizens when compared to their desire to "maintain good relations" with our "allies".

This is really getting to be like a comedy of errors, with all sorts of ridiculous undercurrents and stupid mistakes, remarks. If it wasn't so tragecally sad we could be laughing. Natalee's parents must be so frustrated. I don't know how they keep from bursting in a fit of anger. They must have tremendous control. But, I suppose in the same situation, knowing that one is at the mercy of the "good will" of a foreign country, we would all work hard to do the same.

FYI, Dee Fine and her husband are on the radio in my neck of the woods. Their hearts are basically in the right place politically, but they get on my nerves terribly because IMHO they're rabble-rousers almost to the point of being political shock jocks.

Thank you. Lots of "Croes" for such a small island, LOL.

It shouldn't take long for someone to make the proper connection with the initials of the new suspect. A wealthy "Prominent Businessman" with the name of Croes isn't rocket science for the locals.

If the 3 boys have nothing to do with her disappearance why didn't they drop her off at her hotel? Anyone know if the surveillance cameras for the Marriot were checked. Someone on the up and up will drop you off at your own hotel and usually watch you enter, especially for women.

You are neglecting to consider, or discounting, the profound influence that many Americans who care may apply to this case. Consider the possibility that it has come to the attention of the POTUS, his wife, and Condi.

Thanks for your insight! I don't know much about the Fines at all. Apparently, though, the Aruban gov. is going after them. :o(
