Good grief. A dream jury for Jackson.

According to the OLD MEDIA it was a "conservative jury".

That post about the bios of the jury explains the verdict better than anything they could say.

You know...one of the things that both sides ask potential jurors is "can you put aside any PERSONAL feeling you have one way or another about the person on trial and be objective about the case?"

The Prosecutor and the Defense remind the juries to "put aside your predjucies" when rendering a verdict.

There are a LOT of people here quick to criticize the jury for their decision...and at the same time showing EXACTLY why they wouldn't get picked for a jury like this.

You dont need evidence to convice you of "not guilty" you already are when you walk into court..Guilt must be proven.

It is common when a jury retires to the deliberation room to take a straw vote right away so people can see where they stand and indicate what issues they need to focus more attention on.

I've sat on both criminal and civil juries and was trying to think what our instructions were when retiring to the jury room for a decision. In the last case, a civil trial, the instructions were to retire to the room, select a jury fore person, then read the jury instructions as provided in the written material/jury charge to us, then proceed towards a verdict.

I'm sure it maybe different in various jurisdictions. But as you said above we took a straw vote at the first opportunity after getting beyond selecting the fore person and reading the required material aloud just to see where we as a jury stood.

I wondered if Jackson's entourage/family hadn't put pressure on, called up, cajoled, threatened, or paid off some of the jurors. You'd think the cops would keep a close eye on their bank accounts, family accounts, if they suddenly have money and buy up land, etc.. If the DA's office finds something suspicious, they should file charges.

If that's true, I'll have to believe the posters that said the people in my state are idiots!

Why yes, of course, all 40,000,000 are all idiots because of this case.

Please, put down the remote, and step away from the television.

Jesse Jackson on Hardball saying this had something to do with the Beatles catalog.

And he's also saying he's been proven not guilty of ALL the accusations every made about him.

If I was innocent, I'd want a judge to try my case.

I wish you well if you ever get charged with a crime. I hate to burst your bubble, but most judges are prosecution oriented. You are most likely to get a fairer hearing before a jury.

The Founding Fathers put the right to a jury in the Constitution so as to avoid having prosecutions brought by the King tried by those who were beholding to the King (judges).

You never lightly decide whether to proceed with a judge instead of a jury. I do it at times for my clients, but only when I have decided the government's case is so weak, that even a possibly biased fact finder will find it to be weak.

The Shakedown artist was also talking about how spiritual the Michael Jackson family is.

Given "that picture" that MJ has in his house, his idea of spirituality is quite different than mine.

I don't want to throw the jury system out, I am a para-legal, and I would request a bench trial if I was innocent.

And I would advise anyone who is guilty choose a jury trial.

And I have maintained this for 20 years.

You mean because we have actual intelligence and can use it?

In all of the things I've seen on TV and read did it state that it was Gay Porn that was laying about.

Infact it was stated in this thread that the "porn" on questions was hetero stuff.

We're supposed to believe whatever the Rev. Jesse Adulterer and Shakedown Artist Jackson says, I suppose.
