Checking in folks. Nothing unusual to report in the Reston, VA area.
I have to go to Alexandria this morning to fix a server.
Be safe folks. Prayers to the victims.
stepping back in time to 2004:

email article
"British targets in al-Qaeda bombing plot "
JAMES KIRKUP POLITICAL CORRESPONDENT
ARTICLE SNIPPET: "Key points
British security forces on alert for al-Qaeda attacks
Alarm comes after terror group member is interrogated
US also increases vigilance
Key quote
This is not the usual chatter. This is multiple sources that involve extraordinary detail. Everyone that has reviewed the sources has concluded this was as reliable a group of sources as we have ever seen before." - Tom Ridge, US homeland security secretary
Story in full BRITAINS security forces were yesterday put on "heightened readiness" for a potential terrorist attack, after detailed al-Qaeda plans to attack UK targets were uncovered.
The plans, discovered by Pakistani and CIA intelligence officers interrogating an al-Qaeda member in Pakistan, were considered credible enough for the US authorities to step up their threat warnings and reinforce security around banks and financial institutions in New York and Washington.
In a sign of the gravity of the threat, US officials took the unusual step of revealing the names of the companies and organisations that could be targeted.
Among them was Citigroup, a US investment bank with offices in Edinburgh and London. A company spokeswoman confirmed yesterday that the banks British staff had been "made aware" of increased security precautions following the threat.
Another bank listed as a potential target, Prudential Financial, also has subsidiaries based in London.
The warning yesterday was the culmination of what intelligence experts say are growing signs of another major al-Qaeda strike, perhaps on the scale of the 11 September attacks.
Magnus Ranstorp, the director of the Centre for the Study of Terrorism at St Andrews University, compared the level of anxiety in the intelligence community to that in summer 2001."
I'll be checking in later, and of course, if I hear or see anything I'll get in touch.
I am still searching through my files to see what I may have on that "things will start in London" threat. I am afraid I am not too organized with these files. We have all tried to locate this before.
If I recall correctly, that threat was first written and as part of that request list with the 8 or so requests in late 2003; this letter had the number 223 at the end of it. It made another round slightly revised with the number 224 or so at the end of the letter in December of 2003 right before we started making those London flights return to London. It was signed by a group I think.
Then, it was then repeated by eom or an eom-wannabe after that.
Can you get a full screen shot if possible? I would like to see the Arabic txt.
Ok.
Unfortunately Qa3lah has locked down their servers and I can't even get in with the account I made the last time they did this.
UGH I should have figured.
I'm searching the other forums right now though and will let you know if I find anything.
Also, over at tb2k they're saying that AQ killed the Egyptian diplomat today.
I reiterate - bastards
Transportation sector alert level in U.S. raised to orange. But they are saying this is trains and buses and not airlines.
The TM thread was from the week of July 10, 2004! It was because of the discussion about that threat that I started doing summaries. It is accessable from the first page of this thread in the link NWCTWX has provided. Apparently a source/letter was captured by the unspeakable site refering to the chain of events.
Hi everyone....I'm finally back. We've been through h@ll and back, but doing okay now.
I seem to remember reading an e-mail like that some time ago.
Well, with this and Madrid I think it is safe to assume public transit is a top target. 9/11 used our transit system against us as well. While I DOUBT we will be attacked in the short-term, it is worth raising our vigilence (I mean, we should have already - right?). The thing with transit though, it is very meshed with our economy. Hit buses, trains, planes, etc.... life can come to a halt. Their main objective (as UBL and Zawahri have said repeatedly) is to ruin our economy so that they may have an easier time hitting us in the future.
You are awsome zilla. I rememmber now why we started the
summaries. OMG!
U.S. Hikes Terror Level for Transit

Thanks godzilla.
That reminds me to update those links. ;)
APPARENTLY they killed the diplomat, but I don't know if that has been confirmed.
Did you see this today?

To: All
EOM, who is another Muslim fanatic, says that London is going to get hit first, and then the US will be hit shortly after. You can read his posts on this board http://disc.server.com/Indices/206989.html
EOM posted a warning right before 9/11/01 on that board, and he seems to think something big is about to happen again.
