Cheney knows where bin Laden is hiding, but not exact 'address'
(Agencies)
Updated: 2005-06-25 17:16

US Vice President Dick Cheney said that he knows where Al-Qaeda terror chief Osama bin Laden is hiding out, but not his precise location.

"We've got a pretty good idea of the general area that he's in, but I -- you know, I don't have the street address," Cheney told CNN in an interview, confirming comments by Central Intelligence Agency chief Porter Goss.

Russia: Militants tried to steal nukes
UPI ^ | 6/24/05

Posted on 06/25/2005 7:14:05 AM PDT by Straight Vermonter

MOSCOW, Russia (UPI) -- Russia`s head of nuclear arsenal safety says terrorists, whom others say were Chechen militants, have tried twice to steal nuclear weapons.

Col. Gen. Igor Valynkin said the thieves had tried in 2002 and 2003 to break into nuclear warhead warehouses, Britain`s Independent newspaper reported.

Good links granny it is for sure they are out there, but who knows where? Its seems there is a news block for about a year on the Russina Nukes and Mafia or it just could be me?!?! LOL

This is interesting but a year old...

Then the question comes up: why was this done and who benefits?

The operation which was carried out had many goals. It was an artificial stimulation of demand. An attempt to prove that there exists in Russia organized crime; that a nuclear mafia similar to the narco-mafias exists which can order and transfer whatever is needed. But such a mafia does not exist. This is confirmed by the fact that the people who steal this material, as a rule hide it very painstakingly for a long time and only then begin to look for a buyer. Some of them kept it for a year and a half because they couldn't find a distribution channel or a buyer. In all these cases, the end-user of the materials is very important. What is most interesting is that there has not been one case in which we have been able to get our foreign colleague to give an answer as to who the end-user is for the material. Claims that it is for Libya, Iran or Iraq become unsustainable myths.

Secondly, the above named countries can't be dependent on casual and unclear shipment through non-professionals... All of these countries are placing their bet on creating an independent system of producing enriched nuclear materials. They would never get into business with chance partners.

It should be said that the field of information around the nuclear problems in Russia is filled with such disinformation that it makes your hairs stand on end. By the way, there was a confirmation, for example, that, Narzarbaev sent nuclear material from Kazakhstan to the US by airplane. All of this is nonsense.

Okay folks, I'm officially checking out of the "net" for our trip to Texas (San Antonio) to pick up our new pup. We plan on cutting north while still in Louisiana up to a point near Nacadoches which we plan to check out as a spot to retire and then over to Waco for The Ranger Museum and maybe over to Crawford then down to Blanco for the pup and around those towns: San Marcos, New Braunfels, etc for You Know Who to shop at bead stores (she makes and sells her own jewelry...actually has an incorporated business) and generally indulge her addiction. LOL Maybe this will give me an excuse to visit some gun stores. Anybody having great restaurant advice is encouraged to send me freepmail ASAP (looking especially for steak, barbeque and Mexican).

We're leaving Tuesday, and so I'll be around the TM and bang list until then, but I choose to post this now and our general itinerary in the hopes that folks who have knowledge of these areas and what is going on there NOW may be able to give me some important tips about traffic backups due to construction, or local crime waves underway or anti-gun jurisdictions, or locally infamous speedtraps designed to generate revenue (the entire state of Louisiana has a history of this!). Feel free to freepmail me with this info if you can. I'll check back in when we get back in mid-July. Prayers for safety would be greatly appreciated, too. And don't worry, I'll be lawfully armed and carrying for the whole trip. I just wanted to explain my absence from posting.

In San Antonio you MUST stop and have a cold cervesa at Menger hotel bar which is within short 100 Yard walkin distance of the Alamo.

The old Menger Bar is where TR recruited some of his Rough Riders........my favorite stop when I'm in San Antonio.

Ya won't regret the visit.....

Would love tyo do that, someday (Menger Hotel Bar). This trip it'll be just me, wife and pups. And we can't leave them in a van while go for a cold one. In the summer heat, they'll be dead in moments. They're the reason for the entire trip, after all.

If any of this is true and it is old news, the Russian Mafia may be responsible for all of Israels problems...this could easily be what can happen in America

snip

Commander Meir Gilboa, chief of the Israeli Serious Crime Unit, has noticed the increasing activity of Russian gangsters.

He says: "They come here because in Israel it's easy to carry out their illegal activities.

"There is no law against money laundering or belonging to an illegal organisation.

"It's easy for Jews to receive Israeli citizenship. If they are not Jews they are smart enough to forge documents in order to become citizens. They feel much safer here than in Russia."

Or is it all ready happening in America...Thank GOD John Kerry didn't get elected...

U.S. Investigators Missed Russian Mob in N.Y. Bank Scandal
Lucy Komisar And Ivan Feranec,
Pacific News Service, Aug 06, 2002

An aggressive European investigation of international crime has revealed alleged Russian mafia leaders operating in the United States. The U.S. Justice Department, write PNS contributors Lucy Komisar and Ivan Feranec, dropped the ball three years ago during the Bank of New York scandal, which now threatens to explode.

snip did it explode NOPE not with John Kerry in charge...

An investigation by the Senate Subcommittee on Terrorism, Narcotics and International Operations, headed by Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., revealed that the CIA used BCCI to finance clients, including Osama bin Laden.

The BCCI and the BoNY cases show the danger of letting criminal networks fester. Khalid bin Mafouz, the No. 2 BCCI official who got off with a minor fine and never told where the missing billions went, is Osama bin Laden's brother-in-law and one of his reputed financiers.
