French voters have rejected the proposed EU constitution in Sunday's referendum, according to an exit poll. The poll quoted by French TV gives the "No" side 55% - in line with surveys published in the run-up to the vote.

Spain was great. Something like 70% approved it, but the same amount had never even glanced at it. heh
"Anti-American sentiment rose after the collapse of the Soviet Union"
This is different. The idea of European counterbalance to America has been fueling anti-americanism, and also entrenching anti-israel europe.
This calls for a celebration beer!
one consitution down, one frog president to go.
if you are a democrat, a 55% loss is only a nonbinding recomendation.
57.2% NON so far...
Hey! It worked for Saddam!
Le Penn just said he would call for new parlamentary elections tommorrow.
Looks like it did not work this time. It may eventually play itself out. They will never love us - they never did.
Maybe they will take a break from this for a while.
These are exit poll reports. How much can we rely on them? Fox is reporting that the polls are still open. I would like to see some reports on real tabulated vote results before we break out the California wine.
Good point. The EU reminds me of committees. The reason why committees can't ever make the right decisions is because they need consensus. Getting consensus on any subject from 25 different countries is hopeless.
I remember in Paris, contempt for the United Sates was all the fashion rage back in the 1960's and by the '70's it was popular to try and run down people who looked like American tourists. That was a bit before the collapse of the Soviet Union.
Creating another Soviet Union while simply calling it by a different name will NOT strengthen Europe, it'll further weaken it. Do you think the media's usage of the term "EU bloc" was a coincidence of verbiage?
Good international trade policy, while allowing the citizens of European countries retain their individual histories is a far better idea.

Click on Intele for some Angry Frog results and commentary. Can't understand what they say, but they all sound like Pepe Le Pew and they're really upset.
Hard to tell which side to cheer on during this thing.
It is certainly a bad document, so cheering for the vote to fail is the right thing if I care about the people of Europe.
Of course, cheering for the vote to succeed would foist it upon the frogs, the germans and others who have been so nasty to the US in recent years. Then I can have years of watching them suffocate slowly - and choke themselves to death.
I guess I'm hoping that they actually to the right thing here, and reject this anti-freedom document.
his is gonna get interesting - eg, finding out whether the "intelligensia" is going to force the "vote until it passes" strategy... Apparently, those who negotiated this thing that is many factors larger than the US Constitution got sick of the French asking for more and more to their liking, so it isn't likely further changes the people would like are going to be implemented. I have no idea what further concessions the French were asking.
Instead, he walked into a door...
Absolutely correct. During the past years, the EU defined itself as Anti-American (from a political point of view) supported by leftist "peace-loving intellectuals" and an applauding European MSM with a strong anti-Israel and pro-dictatorship (China, Cuba etc.) tendency. Creepy.
