"Anti-American sentiment rose after the collapse of the Soviet Union"

This is different. The idea of European counterbalance to America has been fueling anti-americanism, and also entrenching anti-israel europe.

The Euocrats embarked on a willful demonizing of the USA as a part of a strategy to get through a United States of Europe. Even Delors spoke about the "need" to do such a thing. They have been at it for decade. It reached a peak lately, but it has alway been there. We just do not hear about it when a Democrta is in office.

Looks like it did not work this time. It may eventually play itself out. They will never love us - they never did.

Maybe they will take a break from this for a while.

Absolutely correct. During the past years, the EU defined itself as Anti-American (from a political point of view) supported by leftist "peace-loving intellectuals" and an applauding European MSM with a strong anti-Israel and pro-dictatorship (China, Cuba etc.) tendency. Creepy.
