May 28, 2005 McCain Urging Accord on Bolton and Secret Documents By DOUGLAS JEHL and CARL HULSE WASHINGTON, May 27 - One of John R. Bolton's leading Republican backers, Senator John McCain of Arizona, signaled his support on Friday for a compromise in which the White House might allow Senate leaders access to highly classified documents in return for a final vote early next month on Mr. Bolton's nomination as United Nations ambassador. The conciliatory signal from Mr. McCain came as Senate leaders traded blame over who was responsible for the miscalculation that led to Mr. Bolton's nomination being blocked Thursday. But the White House showed

From what I can gather it really has nothing to do with Bolton
Dodd & Biden want the names .. or maybe it's Janice O'Connell that wants the names
Where would our republic be without Sen. John McCain?
"***I really do not understand all the fretting about Bolton.***
Mmmmm...didn't Georgie boy Voinaglitch persuade you with his boo hoo tears about that big, bad John Bolton? Let's all cry together now with Voinie and we cant have this meanie mean man John Bolton scare the sacred halls of the UN. After all, how would would poor little France, Zimbabwe, Sudan and North Korea feel about such a meanie at the nice UN? Boooooo hooooooo.
How the h-ll is Voinavich a Republican Senator? How do these gutless, brainless wonders get elected? How embarrasing a display is this piece of work Voinaglitch.
Bolton = man up. Voinavich = boy down. (clown)
What an expletivedeleted mcVain is!!!
Hey, McCain shut the f up!
Hello, McCain: WE ARE THE MAJORITY.
We don't need to give away ANYTHING.
All we need is to have the Republicans vote together, we will win everything 55 to 45.
The transcipt for Thurday's show is not up yet to get what York said

Thanks!
What so the NYT will leak those highly classified documents in the next edition?
When I see this kind of cr** happen, I ask: "What's the other hand doing?"
Sure, you can let Rats see his files...and at the same time give Bolton THEIR files. And, while we're giving out secrets, why don't we pass them along to our enemies in case they might've missed something, and also some of Laura's secret recipe cookies or something.
SECRETS are supposed to be secret. Who the hell hired McCain to run the country?
So, who is surprised by this? McCain will pull this out no doubt, playing both sides against the middle so he can be the Republican front-runner. The dems agree because they know that McCain is not electable. He'd NEVER win the republican base.
First he backstabs us on judges, and now Bolton. Based on a recent statement of his, I think he's going after Social Security next. He'll be three for three, I'm getting a McPain.
That would just take pressure off the GOP in the Senate, and put heat on the WH. Let the boil fester - it's pissing off the GOP base, who is leaning hard on the Senators.
I'm pretty sure (95%) the reconsideration of the cloture vote (the do-over) will have it passing, and then we're off to voting on the nomination. The DEMs don't want to find out if Frist's Constitutional Nuclear Byrd will come out to play on this nomination.
Hey, I'm putting a website together that lists the Seditious Seven, with a list of their REAL republican contenders who are REPUBLICAN in ACTIONS AS WELL, not RINO's. Hopefully, it can be one of many tools in the arsenal to unseat these fools.
Looking for a silver lining in all this.
Methinks McCain has pretty much shot himself in the foot when it comes to his presidential yearnings.
Johnny Boy is looking to be "Mr. Consensus" and thinks that all these moves will make him more appealing to both sides in 2008.
But foolishly, he is leaving out a crucial step and assuming he will be the party's nominee.
Well...you know what happens when you ASSUME, right?
(for those who don't know...you make an A$$ out of U and ME)
By the book, he's a pretty decent conservative, if you check out his ADA and ACU ratings.
If you dig deeper, though, he has one major flaw, which is more psychological than political - his self regard. This has led to many of his more obnoxious stances. He favors elite opinion over popular (and more informed) opinion - cf global warming - since fawning by the elite press fans his self regard. He does not trust the electorate to make proper decisions without adult supervision - cf campaign finance reform, opposition to the second amendment - since he believes that only the elite should be able to make important decisions. He holds grudges - his lukewarm support of Bush in 2004 and his leadership in the "deals" on judges and Bolton can be best seen as petulance over his defeat in the 2000 primary.
It is a shame that his flawed personality swamp his basic conservative impulses, to make him one of the most pernicious RINO's in the Senate.
