Now, re "representation" . . .

You are wrong. We have ZERO representation in Washington. Bush is not a conservative, and there are just a couple conservatives in the Senate.

By representation, I mean we have ZERO "actual" representation. There may be an isolated conservative here and there, but that does not equate to having conservatives CONTROL a branch of government.

If we did have representation, we would NOT have had the majority party in the Senate cave-in to the minority party.

From a practical angle, conservatives have ZERO represenation in Washington.

For future reference, it takes 60 votes to invoke cloture, so therefore it would take *41* votes to guarantee that cloture will not be approved.

I'm aware of that fact. I'm also aware that Arlen Specter had already left Washington DC before the vote was taken. So that if there were 40 Nay votes, the most the Aye's could have had was 59.
