It was just a throw-away line on a throw-away filler piece. Yet in its own way it was deeply revealing of the liberal mindset.
At the end of its top-of-the-hour news recap, Today ran a piece about a Florida family that had found a small alligator lounging in its backyard swimming pool. Today aired footage of authorities roping and removing the reptile.
Katie then murmured "gee, I hope it will be released and be OK," with Matt Lauer ominously informing Katie that things sometimes don't work out too well for the alligator in such situations.
So there it was. Katie's crocodile tears for . . . a crocodile. OK, an alligator, but who's counting?
Yet another example of the liberal mindset at work. From snail darters to spotted owls to baby seals to alligators, liberal hearts bleed at the thought of any harm being done to animals.
But 40 million and counting babies aborted since Roe v. Wade? Hey, when's the next march where we can "celebrate a woman's right to choose"? Starving and dehydrating Terri Schiavo to death? Hey, her life wasn't meaningful anyhow.
Maybe you could educate yourself on the *facts* of what Gov does.
What you are not seeing is any expression by Couric, in all her years at Today, of concern for the millions of babies who have been aborted pursuant to her beloved right "to choose."
*why does EVERY single freakin' story have to involve Terri Schiavo???*
If you would go back and have a look at my Today Show posts, you'd find that few if any of them have mentioned the Schiavo case since the time of her death. Here's a link to my blog that brings together most of my Today Show threads:

Thanks and I will review them, but please answer the question I asked a looooooong time ago .... what should she have DONE differently in this ONE story that would have made any difference to NOT show her political viewpoints about Terri and abortion?
I dunno ... I didn't watch this or any of the morning shows, never do.
He gave me a link ... thanks for your help.
I wouldn't have asked her to do anything different in this story. But if she's going to express such exquisite concern for alligators, then somewhere in her years of broadcasting I would have expected her to express anything like the same concern for the victims of abortion.
She should have not done the story at all, like all the other morning shows prolly didn't.
It was a cheap cute puppy/fuzzy kitten story, done to show how "caring" and "empathetic" the affable Eva Braun is underneath her 3-pancake makeup.
After all, she's got to wash off the bloodstains from the knife that her producer got in the back... ;-)
Don't give them the ratings ... let them wither and die!
Why? Maybe people in Florida were interested. I know I'd be interested.
After all, she's got to wash off the bloodstains from the knife that her producer got in the back... ;-)
LOL!
Yeah, probably, I don't watch today and just barely know who Katie is.
Maybe because abortion is controversial and removing a baby alligator is not.
I guess I just don't understand what info you are drawing watching this piece of crap show.
Millions of other Americans do. Some of us on FR have a self-appointed function of media watchdog to counter the propaganda presented to these unsuspecting viewers. glgb is a dedicated specialist, and he has nipped at the heels of the overpaid Botoxed Blonde B*tch from nBc for years.
It was just such a small posse of dedicated FR media watchers that brought "Blath Danner" low over at SeeBS. The Danner has been replaced by Schief "Purple Rage" Bobber, but hopefully we'll get the Bobber and his aging strumpet Gloria Borger one of these days, too. ;-)
glgb can't realistically report on the WHOLE show. He just does the [pretty much daily] summary. As you can see from my post #58, others add in their impressions and snippets from the morning shows. I believe that I caught Today putting a grim face on good news this morning (as has been reported by glgb MANY times in the past) and decided to post what I saw.
But honestly, saying that telling people not to watch these stupid shows means I should tell the CIA not to monitor terrorists wasn't a very good analogy, was it?
No offense GLGB =)
HAHAHAHA ... you guys should form a tag-team
It's too bad you suffer thru this crap to begin with ... you have my sympathies.
I'm not backing off my analogy. No, I don't consider Katie Couric a threat to the USA in the same way I do Al Qaida. But I do think it's valid to say that in the same way it's worthwhile for our intelligence services to keep track of our military opponents, it makes sense for conservatives to keep track of liberal media opponents.
Do you disagree? You never responded to my question of whether, in the same way you advised me to stop watching and reporting on liberal bias at Today, you would advise MRC, Bernie Goldberg, Accuracy in Media and a host of others to desist from their efforts.
Yeah. 'Today' is an entertainment show. People can turn it off and the country would be a much better place. You can't say the same about monitoring terrorists.
You could not watch 'Today' for the next six months and the country would be fine.
This is not a good policy to apply toward terrorist monitoring.
Leaving aside my paltry efforts here at FR, you are seriously mistaken, IMHO, if you believe it's not worthwhile for the variety of conservative activists out there to keep track of what the liberal media is up to.
Moreover, the vast audience that has made "Bias" a best-seller and supports operations such as MRC indicate that many feel the information they provide is valuable.
The seditious behavior of Today and its ilk is not the same as blowing up planes and buildings, I'll agree. But we have to remember that Uncle Walter @ SeeBS and his MSM pals turned the failed Tet Offensive into a victorious media coup for the North Vietnamese.
Can we as a country afford to have al-Katie Commie get away with boosting our current enemies while disguised as a harmless Greenie "save the whales, kittens and baby alligators" phony?
