For the freedom you enjoyed yesterday...
Thank the Veterans who served in The United States Armed Forces.
Canteen Backyard Cookout!!
Okay, who's cooking??
|
|
Tomkow? Old Sarge? Tonkin? HiJinx? Auntie Fawnn? Ma??????
Long weekends sometimes are family backyard cookouts. While this weekend is Memorial Weekend, which we in the Canteen take seriously, a little kickoff fun is planned. We thank our Troops for their service to our nation.
We have some beer!
Some eats!
Some fishing....
Some lounging around...
You a Redneck?? You might be a Redneck if your pickup looks like this!
Some more beer!
Somemore lounging around...
Tomkow has to show off at every Canteen party! Soooo, what's your idea of a Backyard Cook Out?

"The temps wouldn't be so tough to take if we could just see some sun!"
I haven't seen much of the sun either lately, but I have certainly seen plenty of evidence that there was a full moon this week.

I have been watching your weather dilemma on Fox. You deserve a nice summer. It's hitting the economy bad now. Siding sits shrink-wrapped on lawns and nobody can work outside and shoppers are tired of shopping. Parking lots are emptier than ever.
We not only deserve a summer, we deserve a winter that's summer! We've had record breaking lousy weather for too long and we're desperate. :)

The sun popped out for about 45 seconds three days ago and I gasped so hard at the site of it that I nearly swallowed my tongue!

I have certainly seen plenty of evidence that there was a full moon this week. It's been clearest at night. What good is that? Just allows for more cooling.

So true LuvW, beautiful graphic. The more I see and read of our Brave Heroes, the more I can't believe their sacrifices and courage. I wish I could thank them somehow. There is no way to truly show my appreciation for what they do. I pray for their safety everyday and for the families that do without their loved ones coming home for supper each night.

Yes--I know what you mean. How do you truly say thank you to men and women who possibly give their very lives without being asked to for us and for America!

I use endive instead if the spinach ( it doesn't stain the broth as much) Try Escarole instead . . . that's what my Italian Relatives use.

Last Saturday, we lucked out because it was suppose to be rainy and it was sunny here. Monday the sun came out and teased us early in the morning. I was thrilled but by 10 it was back to the cloudy chilly weather.
I know it does hurt the economy. I live on the east end LI and usually it's packed with vacationers for this weekend. It's not as busy today as it should be. Not that I mind that but it will hurt locals if it the weather doesn't shape up.

A difficult position to be in. Not being able to truly thank people who give everything to defend our freedom. I need another hankie now. :)
