Good morning all. Senate convenes at 9:30 am this morning, to vote on the nomination of Priscilla Owen. I've started the thread early, as I have to leave for a few hours, but also to give us a place to start commenting early on the events of yesterday....
Schumer simply doesn't realize that the President has been consulting with the Senate - but that he wasn't invited to the meetings.
If Graham is right, and 7 of 8 are confirmed, then Henry Saad, because of something he said about Stab-a-cow, is DOA. But I think Graham has been hoodwinked. I am not sure any of the other 5 will get approved. And if so, he is gonna regret this "deal." I hope I'm wrong.
Nope, not a chance :^)
I am thoroughly disgusted about this non-deal though. And the Senate Republicans.

So the number thrown under the steamroller is, as admitted by Lindsey "Waffle" Graham is now up to 3. I'd double that, then make room for me.
Very, very optimistic IMO. I think 60 at the most. Hope you are closer to correct than I.
I think the cloture vote is not a real indication of the "approval" vote.
Naw, I just wanted to make the point again...
And since you never saw a commercial, Durkin's name didn't make it to the sunny side of the toll booths.
We forget that Dick Cheney is on the floor of the senate during events like this. What we don't get to see is his interactions away from the TV cameras. This picture is worth a million words from the mealy mouthed senators.
...but...??...
Are you listening to Feingold?
"The Man" is my all time favorite.
I wish his health were better and he could run for prez in '08.
McShame looks like he just got "corn cobbed"!
Do you mean Alan Cranston? Rush used to call him "the Cadaver."
...but that he wasn't invited to the meetings.
LOL
Doubt that irony comes any richer.
I know --- I agree that's a danger --- and so does he:
See this post from yesterday if you missed him:

He admits he might have misplayed this - but hopes not.
One thing for sure, though, I don't put him in the same class with most of the other fourteen.
For four years, two weeks and two days, Justice Owens opponents have warned that allowing a simple up-or-down vote on Priscilla Owen would cause the sky to fall, mountains to crumble, and rivers to overrun their banks. Theyve told us that the Republic as we know it would cease to exist and that the judiciary would be ruined for all time. So at noon today, we are encouraging everyone to don their hard hatsjust to be safe.LOL! Now let's see if he'll wear his hardhat to the Senate floor!
No, where is Fiengold?
thanks , I'd never seen THAT
Is Byrd actually running again? How old is he now?
