Good morning all. Senate convenes at 9:30 am this morning, to vote on the nomination of Priscilla Owen. I've started the thread early, as I have to leave for a few hours, but also to give us a place to start commenting early on the events of yesterday....
I'll say this for Obama. At least he lets the word Republic pass his lips. Most democrats detest it like no other and talk of "protecting our democracy," etc.
Obama on yammering about nuclear proliferation. (Aren't they supposed to be talking about Priscilla Owen?)
It could be medical...he's ailing..
hi ken, thanks for the thread...I have no experience.
MYGOD, I think you've come up with a brilliant way for Frist to run the Senate. Being obtuse is a guaranteed way to screw with the dem's minds. They can't undermine you if they aren't sure what you're going to do. And the abominable 7 can't give away your secrets if they can't figure you out. This could WORK!
" I predict she passes with 52 votes. "
Stark contrast to me. I predict that she will garner more like 70 votes.
Looks like Dick Cheney just delivered a real nuclear option to McAinal and the other loser. Or who is laughing and smiling now?
You've got to be kidding me.
Memo to Obama; S(l)ick Willie did more to promote nuclear proliferation than the Internet.
It took me a little while to learn what he was really saying. He's very clever.
He's taking a page out of Kerry's playbook I see.........
If there is indeed and oral agreement on some nomiees..it will blow the compromise wide open..and remember, there is NO such thing as a secret in DC..
He should spend more time studying Black history.
The debate on Owen resumes at 10:30 Eastern; they're taking care of morning "business" now.
I guess the phrases "W-88 warheads" and "North Korea" don't ring bells in Obama's head.
There are a LOT of Republicans in Wisconsin, just not enough!
yeah ,... and Osama Obama X just slipped up and said "...any means necessary ,..." not good[for him]
Wow, prairie, you really have it bad now - sounds like you have already started the martinis today - or at least want to! I hope and pray you're wrong, and I honestly think you are. We'll know quite soon - For what it is worth, I agree with the following poster:
I predict that she will vote against all three of these nominees if she wants any shot at the Democratic nomination for president in 2008 or beyond.
There is absolutely zero upside for her to vote for any of these judicial nominees.
In case anyone didn't read the "Letters to the Editor" in today's NY Times, I want to let you know that the Democrats are beside themselves over the "deal." Despite the bluster of Reid, the deal was no win for Democrats. We should stop going after the 7 Republicans who participated in crafting the deal. They delivered the 3 most controversial nominnees, Owen included, and protected the party from horrible ad attacks in 2006. That's the most important part of the deal. No distractions next year as we fight to keep and expand our majority.
Why is he worried about Russia?
