Fully agree that he should be lauded for his service in Vietnam. Worth pointing out however that he was REQUIRED by the Code Of Conduct to turn down offers of parole or special treatment. That being said, anyone who has ever been a POW has my unflinching respect.

It doesn't excuse everything you do afterwards in your life however. It certainly doesn't qualify you as a "statesman."

You can scream about McCain all you want, but the guy you should be hanging today is the Majority Leader.

In order to properly defend McCain you need to mention at least once his POW status and his Silver Star. You also forgot to question anyone's patriotism or ask them if they have ever served their country in uniform.

All-in-all, a weak defense. But it's your first day, somebody might cut you a break.
