Saying you're a "Goldwater Republican" doesn't make you one. Actions louder than words and all that...
Fully agree that he should be lauded for his service in Vietnam. Worth pointing out however that he was REQUIRED by the Code Of Conduct to turn down offers of parole or special treatment. That being said, anyone who has ever been a POW has my unflinching respect.
It doesn't excuse everything you do afterwards in your life however. It certainly doesn't qualify you as a "statesman."

Don't you mean spankee? The spanker is the one inflicting punishment. No punishemnet for the DEMs if they vote. They decide to vote or not. If they vote, they don't get spanked. If they don't vote, they do get spanked. The choice is in THEIR hands.

The Gilda Radner character Cornyn referenced - was that Emily Letella?Yah, he got the character wrong. Dang, I knew what he meant and I didn't notice!
Cornyn sure ripped into the Gang of 14. Why are all the good senators in the south?

If C-SPAN would zoom in on the laptop on McCain's floor desk, would we see him madly typing away on FR signed in as "Light and Truth"?

I am also re-registering as an independent after being a registered Republican for 31 years. As an added step I am sending a copy or the new registration to my semi-RINO Senator, (Smith of Oregon).

Think we need to repeat this again:
Graham and Dewine WILL vote nuclear if needs be. 48+2+Cheney = WE WIN.
That some Pubs will vote against Meyers and Saad is just a fact of life. We want a vote on each--that's all.

That needs to be repeated. These RINOs are already planning on voting against Bush's nominees. There is no way to stop that sort of back room dealing. I'm just shocked they put it on paper and presented it in a press conference.

You can scream about McCain all you want, but the guy you should be hanging today is the Majority Leader. In order to properly defend McCain you need to mention at least once his POW status and his Silver Star. You also forgot to question anyone's patriotism or ask them if they have ever served their country in uniform.
All-in-all, a weak defense. But it's your first day, somebody might cut you a break.
