I have a feeling that the first time George Bush "consults" with the dems in the Senate re: nominations, will be when he tells them the correct spelling of who he wants...LOL

LOL

I think you are correct.

LOL....Don't pop an artery...but don't be surprised when all is said and done ALL options are covered. As for talking to then...I doubt he will other than any normal conversations, questions, favors are asked of any Senator.

It's politics and it's "bidness"...you get done what you have to get done to get what you want...maybe it's a half of a loaf today...take the rest next time.

None of us were there this past week...we do not know the true feelings of each of the Republican Senators...Bush needs other legislation to pass...if he wants it done he needs to play to all of them.

"Did you see what I posted about John Kerry signing the #180 form?"

I read what Britt Hume said.

John Kerry was dishonorably dismissed from the Navy:
(statement from lawyers there at the time)

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/1406760/posts

Whoever in the US Senate that gave Hanoi Kerry
a Top Secret Clearance HAS seen all his military records.

The FBI, since 9/11, does non military clearances.

His most recent one who have been in the spring/summer of '04
when he won the dims's nomination against President Bush.

NO ONE gets a Top Secret Clearance WITHOUT agreeing to have all your records released.

OR pass a FULL FBI check when someone
runs for the highest elected
office in th ecountry.

Does the DC crowd think "We the People" are stupid?

That's a given.

The President isn't going to turn over his nominees to be subject to the cabal of 14. they are dreaming.

It's all just so much codswallop.

Actually, I think it's so much

slug reprocessed horse biscuits that Shrillery's trying to sell as brownies . . . for the children.

Okay, then I think I have an explanation about why he would be signing this form now...

He is on the Foreign Relations Committee that is trying to shaft John Bolton---some of the evidence they supposedly have against Bolton is not cleared for anyone except the Intelligence Committee because of the top security clearance...Kerry wants to read those memos and can't because he doesn't have clearance...has to sign form 180 to get clearance...

Does that sound plausible....???

With the nuclear option ( and yes, there WERE enough votes to pass it, prior to the "compromise" ! ), we would have been able to get an up or down vote on ALL of the stalled judicial nominations.

I'm sure you were the official vote counter. Both sides claimed victory. If one was assured, then Frist would have gone ahead. The "agreement" was between 14 Senators. Don't recall Frist being one of them. Since 7 Republicans voted for the compromise, and there are 55, which of the 7 absolutely without equivocation would have voted for the constitutional option?

You have NO proof that the three WILL be confirmed. The ONLY thing guaranteed, is an up or down vote on them.

And you have proof that they would have been confirmed with the constitutional option invoked? I thought this whole thing was about an up or down vote, or did I miss my reading assignment for today?

And as far as the Dems' promise, all I can say, is : YOU FELL FOR THAT CRAP ? Anyone and everyone of the president's nominations, from here on out, AS THEY WERE BEFORE THE DAMNED COMPROMISE, will be called EXTREME EXTREMISTS/EXTRAORDINARY CIRCUMSTANCES !

And if so, then there is no compromise and Frist invokes the constitutional option, in which case now the 7 wavering Republicans will likely vote for it rather than their almost sure vote against it before.

You're wearing rose colored glasses, blowing smoke, making excuses , spinning, and are damned, dead wrong in spades!

And you, sir, are a complete bloviating fool. Your shameless invectives in place of reasoned discussion serves merely to make you appear more a fugitive from DU than a Freeper engaging in a deductive defense of his position. Are you simply more comfortable with a litany of dittos to your conclusions? Don't be afraid of hearing a contradictory statement to your well thought out position. Be afraid when extremists attempt to shut down the debate with a handful of insults.

WHat scared me last night, was when I heard that Warner and Byrd were involved in the committee---weren't they the ones that wanted a to make it where the Senate would get together with lawyers, professors and such and DECIDE on a pool of nominees for the President to choose from?

I almost hyperventilated at that thought!!

Hanoi Kerry couldn't have run for President without having a top secret clearance.

Like I said, the dims AND GOP know what realy is in his military records.

All of his records.

My arteries are just fine, thank you very much. :-)

Please don't lecture me...I know and understand this stuff thoroughly. There's compromise and then there's a POWER GRAB. This was the latter.

No, none of us were there. And when/IF I get some inside info, I'll just keep it to myself. The last time I shared on FR, nobody believed what I posted.

If the president gives away judicial nominees, in order to get something else, that would NOT be a " compromise", but a total cave. He saw what compromise got his father ( denial for a second term and vilification ),so I doubt he'd make that kind of a mistake now.

Because Graham DIDN'T understand how seriously the non-MSM UNDERSTAND politics.

He was taken by the MSM, McCain, the democrats (and his staff) and his pollsters into thinking he COULD talk his way out of it.

He DOESN'Y UNDERSTAND the power and depth of knowledge of the new media revolution. It not letting him get away with the same ole BS that the NYTimes lets you filter and edit and print for "the rest of the world".

I think the "bad thing" about what Lopez said is that there is a perception from some, that this whole episode made Frist look ineffectual and not "in charge" of his causcus...

Which is what the Majority Leader is supposed to do..therefore it isn't good either for President Bush's agenda there rest of his term, or Senator Frists prospects as a Presidential candidate...

As far a George Allen is concerned, he is a winner by virtue of NOT being the Majority Leader and having this look bad on him....but, since he hasn't wavered his support for Frist and Bush's nominees, he looks good...

That is how I read her interview with Hugh Hewitt--you can decide if you think that is good or not...personally, I don't think is was a very positive sign

BOVINE EXCREMENT !

Since YOU claim that Graham wrote the POS compromise ( though you then back tracked and said that he was only in on the writing of it ), then just WHY was he utterly incapable of answering Sean's direct questions? Graham acted as though he had never even seen the damned thing; let alone that he understood it.

But keep on deluding yourself and making excuses for Graham. You're as "intelligent" and "Conservative" as he is. :-)

Okay, so then why are we wasting time calling for Kerry to sign 180, if the records are available already---

Can't someone send up a Freedom of Information form to find out what is in his records? and even if we got them, considering that the one ex-Sec. of Navy doesn't remember signing something he supposedly signed, would be be sure they were on the up and up?
