Oops, you are right of course. My statement was merely hyperbole.

I ask forgiveness of the Hannity Gods, lest I be Hannitized (which would be a much better fate than being "Hamanized", to be sure).

Okay, I have been reading ya'lls posts re: Santorum

And, like I said in the last post, I didn't get the idea that Santorum really meant what he was saying...

I was WANTING TO HEAR what Frist said this morning, and Allen, that they DID NOT sign onto this and they will see what happens, but that the nuke option is not off the table...

When he came out praising the weasel group and saying it was a good thing, I just got so mad, that I called him a weasel---perhaps you guys should judge for yourself...

The usually show these pressers over and over on a big story, so watch for Santorums and let me know what ya'll think okay.

For the record, Santorum is one of my favorite senators---I really like him....

I wasn't terribly upset at what Santorum said. And it also looked to me like some reporters ambushed him for the CSPAN cameras. I'm just saying I'm loath to crucify him, at least not yet.

MSM circled the wagons for one of their own just as the senators do, but this time I think the gloves are off......we are at war both in Iraq and in the Senate. I say, Take no prisoners.

The problem with the 7 as I see it, is that they do not think they did anything wrong in "saving the Senate's traditions"-they are not worried about the President's agenda, they will still be Senators (they hope) in 2008, and W will be in retirement.

They have voted their own self interest, and we should not be afraid to vote ours.

PRIMARY THE SOB'S!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL, you are soooo forgiven. Without some of your insight in this filibuster matter, I'd have snatched my head half bald.

Pretty much what Rush said today. We HAVE to start getting truly conservatives to run.

Frist DOES have the option to still call the vote on all nominees and I hope he does it.

The way I take his words, he, himself, feels a DUTY to bring all of them to the floor. This is what he said last night ...

I will continue to work with everything in my power to see that these judicial nominees also receive that fair up-or-down vote they deserve. But it is not in this agreement.

But in this agreement is other good news. It is significant that the signers give up using the filibuster as it was deployed in the last Congress in the last 2 years. The filibuster was abused in the last Congress. Mr. President, 10 nominees were blocked on 18 different occasions, 18 different filibusters in the last 2 years alone, with a leadership-led minority party obstruction, threatening filibusters on six others. That was wrong.

It was not in keeping with our precedents over the past 214 years. It made light of our responsibilities as United States Senators under the Constitution. It was a miserable chapter in the history of the Senate and brought the Senate to a new low.

Fortunately, tonight, it is possible this unfortunate chapter in our history can close. This arrangement makes it much less likely--indeed, nearly impossible--for such mindless filibusters to erupt on this floor over the next 18 months. For that I am thankful. Circuit court and Supreme Court nominees face a return to normalcy in the Senate where nominees are considered on their merits. The records are carefully examined. They offer testimony. They are questioned by the Senate Judiciary Committee. The committee acts, and then the Senate discharges its constitutional duty to vote up or down on a nominee.

Given this disarmament on the filibuster and the assurance of fair up-or-down votes on nominees, there is no need at present for the constitutional option. With this agreement, all options remain on the table, including the constitutional option.

Here is my two cents of how this whole situation will play out. First, the three judges will be confirmed. Second Saad will come up for a vote and will not be confirmed. Meyers will be up next and the Dims will Filibuster. The Dims will say that it is an outrage that Meyers has still been brought up after the country has spoken about presidential power and the right wing extremists are once again usurping power. The Dims will say they must break the deal in the best interest of all of us. The rinos will agree to vote against Meyers in best interest of the Senate. We will back to step one on the rest of the nominees. The whole process will start again. After the 06 election the Dims will hope to gain seats and derail any further Bush nominees to the SC or any other judgeship.

Again, we'll see. If the Democrats weren't interested in filibustering the non-approved nominees then they would have been approved. So the implication is that they will be filibustered. Therefore, the compromise is like an emperor with no clothes and it solved nothing. If so, then we are right back where we started and then the RINOs have to either put up or shut up. If Frist is serious about up or down votes, then he needs to reassert his leadership (which this compromise is an end run around) can call for votes on the non-approved nominees. This compromise hinges on Frist not calling the vote.

Very true, delay, obfuscate, and wrangle.

With the advent of alternative media, Free Republic, Rush, etc., it's a new day and the slow, deliberative body may find itself run over by the communication age and the Internet.

The American people work at the speed of light; our government representatives best catch up.
