Yes. we tend to see things thru our own eyes, but given the fact that the Dems would have ahd to VOte for Cloture anyway, and then Could have just dragged out each nomination, how do we know this wasnt the 7 democrats reigning in their Majority?

We don't. I respect that there was a need for a face-saving device. I don't begrudge them that.

It's funny (not ha-ha), but I think most of these 14 Senators honestly think they forged an important agreement.

But, is he saying by default that a filibuster can succeed only if one of the seven supports it?

In other words, the dems would need one of the seven for a filibuster to work.

My only disagreement with this is that I think McCain will bolt very soon.

I think that this is still pretty fluid. Lets see what frist says. He is on Hannity next. In any event, pressure Graham, if he folds the whole ball of wax melts.

Graham is the key to this.

I'm back now after short thunder storm and w/music in background to sooth my savage breast (or is it savage beast? I could never keep that straight! LOL)

Little Lindsey sure is making sure he's in front of the cameras "explaining" thangs, ain't he? Won't work......he is one of the 7 and nothing they say means a hill of beans now no how. (Colloquialisms all SouthernSpeak so he kin understand us.)

Do you think there is anything the democrats could do to "hurt" Graham if he decided they breached the agreement? It would only help him in his state. And Warner could flip because they don't even RUN a candidate against him, and he might be retiring.

that is exactly right. Only the SCOTUS can toss Roe. these lower court appointments are chicken feed on the abortion issue. The Dems saved Roe with this move, they will never allow a SCOTUS retiree who supports Roe, to be replaced with one that does not.

The reality is that the seven Senators are weasels who have so many weasel words in their agreement that nobody can trust them -- Frist, Reid, or anyone else. Proof of this is that the more Graham tries to explain what he is doing, the less coherent he becomes.

All we have for now is three nominees in, two likely out and tons of smoke.

I say, people just blaze the phone lines at Frist's office urging the good Senator to make a public statement that he DID NOT sign off on this deal and he still expects a vote on ALL nominees, as his office is appearantly telling callers.

Pressure needs to be put on him and he needs to call out the RINO's.

I've said this from the beginning. The Pubs would make a phony 'deal' with the Dems to allow them to save face and fundraise--but we would still get up-and-down votes on anyone that comes out of the JC.

The Senate is a very exclusive, chummy club. But Frist was ready to pull the trigger and probably would have succeeded.

"BUT, his description of what constitutes a "foul" by the other side, is if ONE OF THE SEVEN CALLS FOR A FILIBUSTER--"

I noticed this language being used last night, and thought the same thing about it.

Graham- "It's tough to disagree with your friends..."

Note to Lindsey: There are no such things as "friends" in Washington.

I may be missing something here but looks to me that at least 3 of the Democrat 7 would have to join a filibuster.

Take the 7 out of the mix and you only have 36 Democrats, 1 Independent and 1 Socialist.

Takes 41 to filibuster.

He was also a lousy pilot, according to many accounts. Probably wouldn't have gotten into Annapolis or flight training had it not been for his admiral father and grandfather. This is documented in "The Nightingale's Song", an excellent book about McCain, North, Webb, Poindexter and McFarland, I believe. With respect to his conduct as a POW, he did exactly as he was required to to by regulation, nothing more, but nothing less, either, if most accounts are to be believed. As a combat veteran of Vietnam myself, I respect his service, but I have no respect for his conduct as a senator. What's happening now is far more important than what happened 35 years ago. The things he does now as a senator have far greater consequences for the country than anything he did as a naval aviator.

I beg your pardon but if you are quoting Graham exactly,it does not compute. How are they going to get a vote if the NO is not implemented and if it is, that is changing the rules. This is like a Lou Costello double talk "who's on third" routine.

Did you hear, Graham say, though that it only needed to be one of the 7 dems weasels that called for a filibuster, not the other dems...

Which IMHO, means that Kennedy, Schumer, etc. could call for it and it wouldn't mean that they went back on their deal....What a crock!!!
