Dr. James Dobson Blasts Filibuster 'Betrayal'
U.S. Newswire ^ | 5/23/05 | Dr. James Dobson

Posted on 05/23/2005 8:34:29 PM PDT by Crackingham

"This Senate agreement represents a complete bailout and betrayal by a cabal of Republicans and a great victory for united Democrats. Only three of President Bush’s nominees will be given the courtesy of an up-or-down vote, and it's business as usual for all the rest. The rules that blocked conservative nominees remain in effect, and nothing of significance has changed. Justice Clarence Thomas, Justice Antonin Scalia, and Chief Justice William Rehnquist would never have served on the U. S. Supreme Court if this agreement had been in place during their confirmations. The unconstitutional filibuster survives in the arsenal of Senate liberals.

"We are grateful to Majority Leader Frist for courageously fighting to defend the vital principle of basic fairness. That principle has now gone down to defeat. We share the disappointment, outrage and sense of abandonment felt by millions of conservative Americans who helped put Republicans in power last November. I am certain that these voters will remember both Democrats and Republicans who betrayed their trust."

Frist has proven time and time again, he has the spine of a jelly fish and does not have what it takes to play hard ball with these guys. They will continue to roll him like a drunk.

In terms of the geopolitical global context, yes, those who adhere to traditional Judeo-Christian philosophy are under assault in these same ways, as individuals, and their states as nations. Evidence of Christianity and religious Judaism - the culture that produced the tradition of law and history that underlies the foundation of America is systematically being attacked and erased in the courts, the culture, and the symbols of the nation. There are attacks on that culture not only here but also abroad, and we but wait to import it in full measure - sectarian violence - unless we act to defend this civilization. The barbarians at the gates are the socialist left and the Islamokazis, whom are working together to achieve the same goal - the destruction of that culture. Americans are getting their heads cut off, and the Democrats are caught in vapor lock, having no sensible public explanation for their behavior, only heated rhetoric and name-calling.

Thus anything that would reinforce or sustain that culture has become anathema to the Democrats and socialists in our government. Conservative judges are the representatives of that civilization in the field of law and liberal activist judges are the last stand of the Left, who have lost on all levels at the ballot box and look to do so again and again. Having nothing positive to offer, they can only hold their influence - and in this case, their best trump card, too - by extending the relative influence of Carter and Clinton nominees (and some of Bush Sr.'s mistkaes, as well.)

You want to talk about violence? I have seen many a socialist riot in New York, they are as predicatable as clockwork. Hollywood stars have urged the literal stoning of Representatives; the New York Times - among others - openly prayed for an assassination. A grenade tossed at our own President. Politicians and artists, murdered alike, by socialists and Islamists in the Netherlands. Synagogues burned in Canada and France. Arsonists and terrorists in California. The situation is so bad you can get strip searched for no reason other than the need to board an airplane.

Thus the last stand of the socialists is the filibuster, which can preserve an established order - the status quo

he knew he was going to make a lot of people "at home mad for a while.

He feels it will be just for a while, and when its election time, he can go "home" and tell everyone how he fought the big, bad democrats. He'll just have to re-cast himself as a conservative and all will be well, everything forgotten. A few good speeches, and he'll be smelling like roses again!

I'm thinking about it. He's still a friend, and I still think he's a conservative at heart. I've talked with him heart-to-heart and come away with a good measure of the man. I think he likes playing tie-breaker in these things because it puts him on center stage, and he's always loved being on stage. And he's not the kind of guy to take a personal poll about what other people think. He'll call you to beat him and concede graciously if you do.

I guess what I'm saying is, I don't mind sharing some personal insights with a few FReepers of good faith and discretion via FReepmail, but I'm not ready to go beyond that yet.

BTW, I have some great background info from the Monicagate era. I might share it someday. ;-)

I'm inceasingly convinced that spiritual warfare prayers are the only hope we have about anything.

I'm increasingly inclined to pray that God speeds up their reaping what they have sown . . . whether as a lesson to others or to give them some slight chance to be spared the fires of hell that they seem so eagerly supportive of.

"Now the Republicans are going down the river without a paddle."

No, I think they are trying to go UP a river without a paddle. Going downstream, they could just drift aimlessly....humm, so what's different from what they have been doing?

No Problem This SC resident will actively work against the senator in the primary and probably in the general election. I don't think this will be forgotten.

"The Bolten nomination is dead now."

I think the Bolten nomination is alive if it isn't President Bush should declare himself an Independent and start a strong third party. Why not? The Republicans stab his dad in the back and it looks like they might try the samething to him.

Make no mistake people, conservatives are being kept out of the judiciary in the same exact manner as were the black children kept from Southern schools in the Jim Crow era.

You raise an interesting point. I'm not disagreeing with you, but I can only imagine the uproar if I had said this.

Nothing against doctors, but most of them don't make very good politicians.

Three of my favorite legislators have been doctors - former rep Durward Hall, current rep Ron Paul, and Current senator Tom Coburn.

"Call the seven scoundrels the Opera Buffa."

No, more like the 'Seven Dwarfs', only they sold out 'Snow White' (Republicans) to the 'Wicked Witch' (Democrats).

Try and guess which one's are which: Dopey, Grumpy, Sneezy (or should that be Sleazy), etc. LOL
