The fact Senator Warner was involved in this, baffles me to no end. He must be getting senile in his advanced age. Forgetting who's side he's on.
As I calm down a bit and rethink it I agree that Frist was also hoodwinked by the 7 RINO's who would not support the nuke option. The fight is not over, but simply delayed. In the interim I hope all 7 are repaid in kind when they come calling for funds needed for re-election.
Reality Check;
Even if the seven turncoats vote for the nuke option, how can they be trusted to vote for the judges in the up-or-down vote? The bottom line is, we don't have 50 Conservative senators. Lots of people here seem suprised about this.
You can't squeeze blood from a rock and you can't pass a conservative agenda without a majority of conservative senators.
Repeating: No blood from rocks. We don't have 50 Conservative Senators. We need to work to get 50 senators.
Face it...Frist IS and ALWAYS has been USELESS!
Yes, but the infamous seven Republicans also agreed to oppose the constitutional option for the next two years. Period. No equivication, no conditions.
Will this agreement be voted on by the entire Senate to make it binding?
Warner has always had only one side - his side. It's long past time for him to go.
"A cup" .......... right now I could use two cups........... a pint of whiskey!
IN SOUTH CAROLINA, NO LESS!
Seriously, I don't know how many of you remember that god-awful extemporaneous, and long-winded, non-Lincolnesque speech he delivered as a House Manager...
I couldn't help but be convinced-as I was listening to him pontificate in the well of the U.S. Senate-that this is the type of summation that a prosecutor would give if he wanted to ensure that the defendant was acquitted.
WHY WAS THIS NERD GIVEN A PROMOTION?!
Ugh.
Reactions here are so predictable.
Culture moderates and liberals yawn or claim victory.
Real conservatives are pissed.
You seem to have a finger on the pulse of DU

They seem even more unhappy than we do about this. Lots of them threatening to resign and stop contributing etc etc.
I hope for a little less drama and a little more analysis by Republicans. The seven could well vote for CO if the Dems use the filibuster. Only two have to decide that the Dems are filibustering on a "non-extreme" case, and the CO wins. Nobody has defined "extreme" in the agreement, which makes it worth less than the paper it is written on. Meanwhile we get guaranteed up/down votes on some of the nominees.
Personally I would have preferred to win tomorrows vote. But to claim this is an apocalypse is simply overstating the case. My opinion. Be as upset as you want. But I'm not sure it accomplishes anything other than blowing off steam.
No, it is a done deal between the 16 senators who signed on.
>>> I'm getting damned sick and tired of you people who are blaming Frist when the real culprits are McCain, Graham, Warner, Snowe, Collins, DeWine and Chafee.
''''It's a lack of leadership for MONTHS that has us where we are tonight. Just as you are sick of people blaming Frist, I'm just as sick of people making excuses for his lack of leadership that got us here to start with.''''
I agree with you, there is a definite lack of effective leadership in this man, and I also am tired of others making excuses for his lack of effective leadership as the majority party in power. What is the reason to be in the majority if you do not know effectivily use it?
s/b 14 not 16 senators
I would hope that if the Rats filibuster, they would reconsider and vote with the rest of the party. However, I wouldn't count on it, much less bet the farm.
I have been returning postage paid envelopes with my comments in black marker.....such as:
NO MORE MONEY FROM ME UNTIL THE JUDICIAL NOMINEES GET A VOTE
May have to revise it to:
NO MORE MONEY FROM ME UNLESS YOU CANGUARANTEE THE RINOS WON'T GET SOME
