The rat bastards have already savaged Owen, Brown and Pryor as the most extremist, racist, out of the mainstream nominees imaginable. They may as well have accused all three as being the Antichrist. By supporting cloture, the 14 have established a standard for the kind of nominees they will support for floor votes.
Remember, these are RATS. They will stand there with a smile on their face in pure blatant unadulterated hypocrisy and filibuster judges claiming "extraordinary circumstances". Then they'll say that "individual Senators" get to decide the definition of "extraordinary circumstances" per the deal. They'll filibuster SCOTUS or circuit court judges right and left from now on. McCain and his pack of RINOs will back them up on it too. Anybody who doesn't realize this is gullible.

I am sorry you are disappointed but you must admit, the Republicans have shown some major spine in the last week on this that we haven't seen in a long, long time. I *do* admit to being fooled into believing that.

He's one happy, damn maverick, and he thinks he's a statesman, and we both know it was a power grabbing, payback for the SC campaign in 2004. And Linsdsay assisted him. Again.

Mccain is an unprincipled vengeful Traitor that would stab anyone in the back to buffer his power. He will NEVER have my vote and I don't give a damn who he runs against.

Vote a straight Constitution Party ticket. And end up with a 70-80 Democrats in the Senate. Real great idea you've got.

Then lets up the challenge.
How about, a politician has to earn an FR seal of approval to earn a freeper vote.
Maybe JimRob can add a ferret robot that, anytime a certain politician's name come onto FR, a FR ferret will automatically add an icon of an FR logo next to his or her name as 'FR approved' by what ever standards JimRob or FR sets.
That will certainly earn media and blogger buzz and add another watchdog to the mix.

"The Dims reserve the right to filibuster future nominees "in extreme circumstances". That's where the Dims have been snookered."
That's if we can trust the Dims...we can't
It will become an "extreme Circumstance" with any nominee for the SCOTUS of anyone who is not to left of Souder...
To: kcvl
Well, whatever else we get out of this, we're now certain that noone will ever utter the words "President John Mccain".
His credibility with the base is dead as a doornail.

What is wrong with sending a strong message to our local republican leaders? I guarantee you if my local chairman gets a dozen resignations tomorrow he's gonna be raising hell with his chairmen and on up the chain.
Shake the party at it's foundation. The guys at the top don't care to hear from us.

Projection can be treated.....go see a psychiatrist; ASAP!
You have repeatedly stated things which prove, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that you neither know nor understand anything at all about politics, history, and the presidency. You've asserted, as a "FACT", that the president was in on this ridiculous sellout of a "compromise". And saying that IF he wasn't, then President Bush would be running down to Capital Hill, making these RINOs "feel his wrath", is proof positive that you are working on the same mental level of a 6 year old.
OTOH, my posts have been coherent and accurate.

"Dingy" Harry Reid makes Tom Daschle look like a Statesman)"
Maybe so, but Dingy made the Republicans blink, and they look like a bunch of asses tonight. I'd say Dingy did OK.
To: maxter
Sorry but if you read the text of the agreement, it stinks bad. They say they will not vote to change any rules until at least 2007. And that Bush should consult with them before submitting future nominees. How awful and stupid can some of these republicans be. Make sure these 7 names are published far and wide. We must never forget these 7. Bad bad bad!
To: warsaw44
I'm sooo mad! This is totally ridiculous. This deal benefits the Democrats, and we're back to zero.
They can filibuster whenever they want and call it extraordinary circumstances." In the meantime the Republicans won't be able to do a thing about it.
To: ambrose
Your word is your bond. The fact that nobody can sue for damages is irrelevant. As a Pubbie signatory, I would not be comfortable with this language voting for the nuke option, when I thought one of the Dems was acting in bad faith (and it only takes one).
The lack of language to vote for cloture where extraordinary circumstances do not exist, tells one all one wants to know. What this deal is really about is 3 judges in exchange for taking the nuke option off the table for this session. The rest is just cosmetic fluff. The Pubbies tried to get some more substance about extraordinary means and the procedures to follow in the future (I assume that because the press said the parties were struggling to define it), but the Dems in the end just said no (except of course for taking the nuke option off the table), and the Pubbies got nothing (other than 3 judges), which is maybe what they wanted in any event. I don't know.
We shall see, as matters leak, and as events unfold, who is right, or whether the word of Senators is now as valuable as Confederate money.

LOVE the idea in priciple. The practical matter however is that flame wars would erupt on a daily basis because I can't think of a single person that one or two Freepers doesn't think is the definition of evil based on whatever the pet position of the day is.
Fickle bunch we are!
