I was just listening to Laura talking about CBS cancelling 60 Minutes II, and I thought I heard her say something about cancelling 60 Minutes, getting cancer and losing a fiance is more than a woman can take. Did I hear this correctly?
The wedding is off, and it is an after effect of the diagnosis.
However, she has only hinted at the idea that he called it off. I believe that's what happened, but she has not said so directly.
I agree with other posters on this thread: if he walked out because of the cancer, then he is an undeserving heartless bastard and she can consider her cancer to be a great blessing, for outing the pig.
There are blessings everywhere!
She is lucky she found this out before she married the bum. It's his loss not hers.
Absolutely! A short 2 month or so engagement saved her life!
*hops in line*
I seriously couldn't even imagine being tempted by another woman, if I had Laura to come home to. *sigh*
Qwinn
Agreed.
One of my friends (a model) married a guy that looked like Groucho Marx. This was after years of dating gorgeous men.
She later told me that he took care of her for a period time while she was very ill. She knew then that he would stand by her in the good times and the bad.
Laura deserves our prayers, she's going through a rough time.
There was a Laura talk show thread last week and a number of Freepers were relaying that she said the engagement was off.
From what little I've heard Laura say about the break-up - I got the impression that she (or they) realized the gravity of what marriage is, and that marriage wasn't for "them".
I wonder which Freeper started the rumor so he could have a shot?
"If he called it off, he is a heartless b@st@rd. Hope you heard wrong, or that she was kidding."
Rumor has it he and the fleeing Georgia peach have eloped. (:>)
There is plenty of room for interpretation. I have my opinion, but there is no way to know for certain (without more information).
Could be any one of about 50,000 or so.
Come on, guys, 'fess up!
Wow!
I listen to most of Laura's show every morning--I did not hear this discussed--you all are sure?
No wonder she feels her world crashing in on her! (several times she has mentioned a lot of tears...I thought that was strictly the reaction to the cancer issue...enough to upset anyone)
If the wedding is off I am speechless...how could that happen? The decision to marry, or not, shouldn't hinge on bad news...that's the stuff your love enables you to work through together...
Say it isn't so-- :(
That's a good "they lived happily ever after...". Wish that could happen to me. :)
Just a fact of life..
I wish it would happen to me too :)
Laura, I'm just a poor, "Pittsburgh Hunky," but if I was in love with you enough to marry you, as you fiance was, I would still do so. If this is true where he called it off, he is a cad pure and simple, but if he was this type of person, it is better to find out now than later. My prayers to you and yours.
