That isn't as bad as one of them (can't remember which) that said that Janice Rogers Brown wants old people to cannibalize their grandchildren....

The Forefathers made impeachment super difficult and it's kinda a common sense thing....An elected leader put out by the vote of a few?? Wow....They would have all been impeached for something.

There have been 13 Federal Judges impeached and seven convicted...

AFAIK, none for judicial activism.

"What I think this thread really needs is some eye candy to provide the occasional break."

You want eye candy? Watch how you get eye candy here.

Hey, what is it Maureen Dowd wrote about the judicial nominees?

"My understanding is that Trent Lott first called it the nuclear option."

Great. Another sterling contribution to our country from Plastic Man. :-\

All I can say is 'wow'. Though I understand it, the whole concept does lend itself well to Dem spin.

Paez confirmation vote was 59-39. Fewer votes than would be required if cloture had been called for.

Though I'd believe anything I'd sure like to see more on this.

In addition to all her A+ qualifications, the REAL reason girly boy dems oppose her is that she's a TEXAN. Yeah, that's it. LOL

"...mostly senatorial theatre ..."

Yeah - but the way this session is going it has the feel that both sides KNOW what the votes are, and that they are fully entrenched. It is the tone of this that surprises me, not the content or the choreography.

In my experience if he has to assure people he is a catholic, there must be doubt. Why would there be doubt? because his actions betray these supposed convictions.

I'm not catholic, but it's my observation that in the catholic Church you have two splits. people that view it as tradition, a birthright. And people that have been spiritually converted. It's the same variation you find in any Church. Those that attend to socialize, and those that have accepted Christ in their hearts.

It's an intriging phenomena. I've noticed it in the Democrat party as well. Grandparents a Dem, parent a dem, so they are a Dem. The ideals seem to come second.

He may be a social catholic, but is he a Christian? Does he embrace the spiritual Truths the church holds?

I am watching the body language, Kennedy was shaking like he has a neurological disease, Leahy is bent over and in a cowering type stance almost trying to make himself smaller,Reid's looks like the "Twerp" that everyone picked on in Bob Newhart's show about a Psychiatrist's patient's discussion group, and he keeps croaking like a frog (voice changing to adulthood maybe). Schumer looking over his glasses, not looking confident just nasty, seems to be losing his hair by the minute and looking really old. Durbin nasty, vague, looks like he does not want to be there. The Pubbies seem to look more confident and finally standing their ground.

I haven't seen that one before. It must have been a super long telephoto lens that caught that photo, as fuzzy as it is.

I agree. It should be difficult. But the prevailing wisdom is that it is impermissible to impeach for judicial activism. I hold the prevailing wisdom is wrong on that count.

At some level, even judges are subject to the political will of the people. They are, by design, more remote from popular influence than a directly elected legislature. But there is a Constitutional way to shitcan the activists.
