Yeah - but the way this session is going it has the feel that both sides KNOW what the votes are, and that they are fully entrenched. It is the tone of this that surprises me, not the content or the choreography.

It's obvious by the demeanor of both sides that the Dems don't have the votes.
The Dems are going to attempt to pick off those votes from now till the vote, so pressure must remain.
Cornyn- nevermind Owens rulings folowed precedents put in place by carter, Clinton, or judges unimously confirmed by Senate.

I believe you are right, in fact Mitch McConnell said to Tony Snow just today, if the votes were needed they WOULD be there.
You know, a lot of this is for the benefit of the press too IMO. Gives them something to report at night, I'm convinced.
